Centralmainediesel. Cheapest we have ever seen for commercial grade generator. Cost about $1/hour for a Perkins or Isuzu 13kw and ran both central units for IDA.

I got my Wen GN625i inverter being I have a lot of LED circuit board lights. What is a good 30 amp transfer switch that will not break the bank?

I bought the Champion 6250 Inverter in the spring and really put it through it's paces for 5 days during the recent hurricane. I wired in a 30amp receptacle into my breaker box and powered my whole house with it for 5 days ( no central HVAC - portable AC upstairs running). I was burning 4.2 gallons of gas every 15hrs on average! Extremely happy with this machine!

Bought a Wen 2250 inverter couple of months before Ida based on a tip on TD. Houma, no power for 2 weeks. That thing was a life saver. Ran refrigerator, fans, electronics, microwave, coffee makers like a champ. Small portable a/c when we wanted to. Not all at same time. Use about 2 1/2 gallons gas a day. Quiet.
Change oil frequently.

I don't see why a 2000 watt inverter cannot run those. The freezers and refrigerators aren't running constantly. Might have to unplug the AC for the microwave. That is what I ended up using instead of the 6500 watt generator post Ida. Saved on fuel by a lot.

The whole quiet things kinda depends on you house situation. Almost all my neighbors have 8KW traditional versions so not sure how an inverter would help.
I have an 8KW and just bought a 13KW dual-fuel so I can run my central A/C. Had to add a 50A cord and breaker to my panel but really happy I won’t have to run portable AC units.
