Port Sulphur Public Launch

Have any of you guys launched at the public by the Port Sulphur Fishing Pier? Am I right to assume that your truck and trailer would be safe there due to the proximity of the police complex? I used to launch at Happy Jack many years ago, and people used to steal there.

That launch is very popular among the kayak fishing community. Never heard any reports of people having issues like that out there and I've launched there plenty of times.

I’ve never had any issues out there. My guess would be with the police station being right there, and a school, criminals don’t really want to go back there.

You talking about the launch behind the high school? I think you’ll be ok there. It’s not a bad crowd that hangs out there.

Actually biglego, the one I am talking about is behind an elementary school. A YMCA is also there.

Port Sulphur High School used to be there pre-Katrina. Still have a bunch of people refer to it as “behind the high school”

If you're launching there with an outboard, be sure to read up on "No Man's Land"... can be a little dangerous if visibility is low, tide is high and never been"..
