way-south its the nature of the beast with all the SXS now days. none of them are built great. You always have to buy something to make them last. If a bed is all it is ill take it. I have yet to see a factory metal bed last very long in moderate use conditions. Not to mention in a industrial atmosphere them things fall apart in weeks!!!!

There's a reason the Vikings come with a bed mat. The only way a metal bed is going to hold up is if you dampen the impact from things hitting it.

Ranger 1000 vs Yamaha 850 or Honda 1000...

Guy at our camp got a Kubota 1100 diesel 4x4 this past fall. Slow but seems pretty well built.

Any comments on one of them?

That's not a side by side. It's a small tractor without a PTO. Poor ground clearance. Lower on power but the hydrostatic makes them geared extremely low.

My biggest issue with any Kubota is weight.

Without even looking I guarantee you it weighs more than a ranger 1000 with a sportsman 1000 in the bed of it

I'd imagine the Kubota to be the following:

High on weight, low on speed, high on durability, low on headaches like most Kubota machines

I still have Yamaha Rhino serial number 220, that was the first year model, 2004.

I went to the darkside in 2008, and got a Ranger, for the sheer size. It was horrible.

Then, the Vikings came out, size was I was looking for....

I have a 2015 Viking that is bulletproof. BIL has a Honda 700......it's a dog.

We have 30 members in our lease, and they have them all.

From what I see......Kawasaki Teryx has the best warranty, and the V twin is full of torque, but it's not suited to tall guys like me.

Hence, the Viking for me. It's as reliable as the '91 Honda 4 trax I have.

BUT, that Kawasaki Mule Pro FXT is a very reliable machine.

I'd NOT waste my money on any Honda side by side....and I've owned Hondas in the past, starting with an ATC 90.

They just ain't the same Honda anymore.

If you are cool with just enough power to turn 30s. The Yamaha Viking is a great unit. Very reliable.

I've owned a Pioneer 700 since May 2014, and have beat the ever living dog shite out of it. Never been in the shop once. Is it fast? No.
I have Outlaw MST 28s on it currently, and it will follow anything on the same size tires anywhere, just a little slower.
I just don't get the hate for the Pioneer 700. If I wanted speed/power I'd buy a Rzr or Maverick and accept that I'd be towed home every other trip.

I also love the 3 speed auto tranny over a belt machine. Change the oil, air filter and go. All that being said, I have no reason to hate on Yamaha or the Viking in particular. I've yet to tow one of those back to the truck.

You want diesel or gas?

I’d look at some other brands besides just the 2 you mentioned. I’ll get crucified for this but they’re all about what and what. I got a Kubota and I really do like. Also have a Mule that’s ancient and still runs great.

Oh, no hate on the big H. I love them things in a 4 wheeler. Have owned 2 dozen+ Honda motorcycles, 3 and 4 wheelers, pressure washers, etc. Have a pristine '91 300 Four Trax in my shop for day to day use.

I just go by my experience with my brother in laws 700. It's hard pressed to turn 26" Mud Lights.

And, I think the cvt is heads above the 3 speed, although I agree with the 3 speed concept. It's just not as reliable.

Not sure bout the new models but I have an 800 ranger xp. Use it daily on the farm and it has been flawless. I have around 8k miles on it and half of those are checking cows and the rest are hard miles. Not so much mudding but work as in hauling bales of round bales on a trailer and such. Can’t complain overall. We also have a Kubota and it WAS great also but cow shite eats it up period and not good in any mud checking fences. It’s been dead for awhile since the motor brackets broke. Something else to fix. Good luck.

Not at all. Those in a few other Chinese manufacturers or copies with the majority of the parts being made in China. You could get some of them Motors from American manufacturers but they were all like 460cc 740cc pushrod Motors.

Willame hose new 10-year belt warranty it's kind of a moot point. Realistically the reason they're willing to warranty the belt for 10 years is because they don't go out

I have a Polaris Ranger 900 XP 2018 model. I like it but I kind of wish I would of looked at the Mule just to make sure I covered all my basics. I looked at the Pioneer 700 but it is a gigantic TURD for the price. It has Zero features and very under powered. I use mine for duck hunting but I really only drive it on levee roads and very little in real mud. The power steering is real nice but If I was taking something in the mud a lot I am not sure I would get a Ranger since it seems to have a lot of electronics that could cause issues.

First time posting, but long time reader (like 2 years long time).

I have worked- not played (well that too) but WORKED- out of just about every brand and multiple makes that there is.

From land surveying, to right-of-way work with dozens of operation managers running our SxS's of varying makes and models, to today, with my own business: I've used a lot of different machines, including the kubotas, for every day all day work.

Hands down the best that I've ever used is the Kawasaki Mule Pro FXT.

It's reliable, it's quiet, it's tuff, it rides sooo dang smooth, has an awesome payload and towing capacity, etc. It has all the tangible that a SxS needs.

When it came time for me to spend my own money for my own business, I didn't think twice: I bought a Mule Pro FXT. Every individual who rides in mine falls in love with it. I use mine DAILY. Hell... a lot of days I use it HOURLY.

And yes I use it duck hunting, hauling canoes in to backwater fishing landings, training dogs etc..

If you have any business trying to take a wheeled SxS machine through it, the mule pro fxt will do it. It's not for the "Mud National" type crew or the ones who look for ponds to drive through, but it will go anywhere that you have any business going.

It is a fabulous machine for the money.

#2 is a rhino, but there's a big gap between #1 and #2.

Polaris is...well...Polaris. I'm not hating, but I just...gotdayum I hate a polaris ranger.

That's just my opinion, but you know what they say about opinions...but mine is informed and fairly extensive (my opinion, that is) so...err...take it with a grain of salt!
