You can find fossils in the many small creeks that flow through the upper coastal plain of Alabama and Mississippi.

You can sell some of these fossils. An intact mastodon tooth can fetch over $100.

As a wee Gump Boy Scout, I used to fossil and shark tooth hunt in Lower Alabama. I sold a few rare shark teeth to a museum and they were still on display with my name the last time I checked.

However, IIRC tree huggers all but put a halt to this due to some endangered nymphs or some water creature. Even on private land you had to have permits and mitigation. That killed the "market" on the buyer end. You can still probably do day hikes and pull fossils out with hand tools but don't expect a pay day.

These are just Satanic artifacts planted to make the weak-minded think that the Earth is more than ~6,000 years old.

Don't touch them.
