I don’t think goggle eye either. Just looking at the shape of the body and not the color.

It has a much more rounded shape that resembles a bluegill, looks like some sort of hybrid to me.

I don't know what you're calling a goggle-eye
A goggle eye/warmouth. I know what those are.

but that fish absolutely has some warmouth in it.
It has zero warmouth in it.

I'm not seeing any red ear features.
It has some.

the coloration is 100% male warmouth in spawning phase.

Meh.

Shape is all wrong. "Ear" is redearish. Look at the other pic I posted. Could almost be the same fish.

BTW, you are now disqualified from all fish ID threads.

Nothing about it says warmouth.

Look at the coloration around the fin edges. Dead giveaway. Not saying it isn't a hybrid, but there's definitely some warmouth there.

Yeah, that looks like it. Yours is just much darker.

ETA: I agree, I don’t see much, if any, warmouth there. I’m no expert though.

It's a red spotted sunfish. Lepomis miniatus. Used to be subspecies Lepomis punctatus miniatus. Now full species

Three types of freshwater fish my dad catches:

Bass, sacalait, bream

He thinks we are fancy pants giving bream their own unique names

Not as good eating as bluegill, imo.

No, but much more fun to catch on ultra light tackle imo

We had a strange head count by the end of the day. I was fishing a jig under cork, while Mung threw a beetle spin. I caught all of the crappie but one, and he caught all of the various bream but maybe two.

What you got there definitely isnt a stumpknocker in our world. Stumpknockers are way lighter colored and not that big.

Did you eat it yet?

Pretty sure I finally caught some pure stumpknockers last week, but took no pics. All too small to eat, which is what I have always read. The males were stunning.
