Thanks. They turned out pretty well and held up great for about 3 years until I decided I wasn't a fan of the black anymore. It took me way longer to strip them than it did to paint them.

On aluminum, you can use some green stripper crap that we used on airplanes. Can't recall the name, but everybody knows what it is.

It's like a gel that you brush on. Strips pant in a heartbeat, but don't get it on your hands.

I used that and some regular ol jet stripper. Both worked well for the few top coats, but didn't get through the primer coats.

I always use the aircraft stripper from Sherwin Williams. It is stronger than the Auto zone stuff. Burns like a mofo though

Am I missing something or did you not sand it before priming? Paint don't stick too well to a slick aluminum surface

Not aluminum and I hit it with a fine flap discs and wire wheel before. Self etching primer was also used

And of course if you didn't want it to come off, it would've just flaked right off.

You're not having a paint problem, you're having an adhesion problem. must sand w 320-400 grit. Aluminum, you must use acid etch or epoxy primer.

Well, it unexpectedly rained last night, and the clear is all grey now with rain spots in it. Awesome
