Decided this year to not get back in a lease. Kids starting sports and I’m away too much chasing thing these mfers. Looking for a good 4 day hunt that’s not caged deer they walk out for me to shoot. Also not looking for a 200” buck. I’d be happy with a management buck and a couple does to fill the freezer.

Not sure what you want to spend but swamp donkey properties near Vicksburg is an unreal place. Several video hunts on YouTube there.

There’s a ranch near Llano that we used to goto every year. Guy who runs it lives in Austin. Average bucks with the occasional big buck. We always shot two doe, and one decent buck per person. Also had a nice camp along a river. I can’t remember the name for the life of me, but might be worth researching and I’ll call I guy who will know the name.

What area are you looking for a hunt?
Team Swamp Stomp in Lindale, Tx. Jason is a good dude and will hunt hard for you.

I’d say around 3-4k. I’d like to hunt Texas. But not opposed to Arkansas, Mississippi or Alabama. I’ve hunted sw Mississippi for the last 5 years

Yes that sounds exactly like what I’m looking for. Do you remember the rate?

Century Ranch hunting. For a group of 6 for 5 nights it’s 2,750 a person.

This becoming wide spread:

1. Increased cost
2. Shrinking Land
3. Dealing with other members - nothing makes men act like babies more than deer

We had 2500 acres in Mississippi for 25 years, this year it got cut in half and so did the members, half of them got a phone call saying get your stuff if you want it by a certain date.

We were discussing how one week in Kansas may be less stress than all this bull sheet

Problem for me was I was the only one that wasn’t shooting young basket racks. Wanting to improve our mature deer and take bigger deer. I let several deer walk that had he walked out on anyone else he would have been in the skinning shed. Between that and time away from home this seems to be the better option. That and it would probably come out cheaper to take a 4 day trip with people I actually want to be around.

So you won’t raise your kids as hunters?

Neither one has any interest. I ask everytime I’d go, middle son has gone a few times but was bouncing off the walls about 15 seconds in, asking how much longer. And if they ever do want to, I’ll get back in a lease.

I took my boys on weekend hunts in Texas for years when their school and sports schedules didn’t allow for anything else. Taught them to make clean shots, and how to process venison, all the way through grinding our own burger.

They got to see a lot of a mix of animals, and it better suited our time constraints, although it spoiled them for all day sits in the piney woods never seeing anything like we do now.
