I have a 95 Evinrude 2 stroke that idles rough and stalls alot at idle. New plugs, fresh gas, new fuel lines, new fuel/water seperator. Runs fine at full throttle. Any suggestions.

Sounds you are in the throws of carburetor removal denial syndrome. Unfortunately it is a progressive disease that does not improve with time. Best to treat immediately. It is cured by a case of beer and a printed out "link and sync" proceedure.

Its probably just time to clean those carbs and change a few fuel lines.

Have you cleaned/replaced the carb?

Sounds like a carb problem. You need to start running gas with no ethanol if you gone let it sit Baw.

Run some Seafoam through it and see if it helps.

No clue. A replacement card is probably ~$150, a mechanic can probably replace it in an hour, maybe 2. So $300?

Call around for some quotes. I'm literally pulling numbers out of the air

Would a bad coil be a possibility?

If it runs fine at full throttle, I wouldn't think its a faulty ignition coil. But I'm not a mechanic 1;dunno:

If it's 25 years old and hasn't ever had the carbs off it's past time. Kits run about $20 per carb, use brake clean (non cholor forumla), high pressure air to blow all the jets out, order a new float for each carb, reassemble, and it should run better. If air won't clean the jets I will take a welding tip cleaner to them, you've got to be able to see through a jet.

With permission I would like to use that line in the future, with full credit given of course! That's funny!

I would agree but check your primer bulb also and make sure that the fuel tank vent has not been mucked with somehow....if the bulb is staying hard it may still be losing prime...it could be old and only seems hard but is leaking. Chances are though it is a gummed up carb. Good news is if it will run some sea foam may make her right and if not it is a fairly simple cleaning....

I didn't read the OP. Sea foam it. Put a half a can in a couple of gallons of gas, put the muffs on it and after you have cleaned the neighborhood of mosquitoes for an hour or so I would bet it idles fine and stops stalling. It will smoke like a tire fire but it'll usually work.

See first response from downshift.

It’s 99.999% the carb, specifically the idle jet in the carb. If you’re gonna own an outboard made in Clinton’s first term you owe it to yourself to watch 20 mins worth of YouTube videos learning how to do minor maintenance. If you are even the slightest bit mechanically inclined you can do it and save yourself a lot of unnecessary expense.

2 stroke outboards are incredibly simple machines...that's why they last forever with minimum maintenance. Generally the hardest thing to do is find the right combination of serial numbers to index parts. 4 Strokes are slightly more complex but still pretty easy to do just about anything needed.

Credit goes to upgrade, I stole that from him. Use it often and I come down with it myself a couple times a year.
