online stats give the armchair quarterback everything he needs

If you haven't used them all, you can't argue between them all. Difference between me and you is that I can give first hand experience between all of the brands. You can pull up some stats online and blab all day about it

Yeah sure, you've personally used nearly 40 models of trimmers across those brands with perfect objectivity. I've got plenty of first hand experience (can throw Efco in the mix too if you like), just not swinging on the nuts of one brand which is all you really have...

I have converted to all Stihl products for chainsaw, weedeater and blower. Got tired of always having problems with other brands. You will be glad you did.

Yes, now you're getting it. There's a big difference between cutting grass 40-60hrs a week and just hitting your lawn once a week. I am just telling you how it is when you actually use them

If I had to put them in order:

Shindaiwa
Echo/Stihl
Redmax

ETA: I have also owned probably 15 saws and used 50 different ones in my life, so if you want to argue about that too, I'm game

I bought a new Stihl FS94R Brush Trimmer last week. It's a new motor design and cuts out a good amount of weight, but still has plenty of power with the solid shaft.

I'm happy with it.

Certainly sounds like the "best"

They are. It's not debatable. A shindiawa and stihl weedeater are not even the same caliber machine.

Except that Stihl weighs less and is breezing through the tall stuff while the Shindaiwa owner is still pulling the cord or untangling the head that's wrapped in grass.

Mine will be twelve years old this summer, came from Home Depot, has been run over by my wife, and has never seen Ethanol-free gas.

I have an Echo older than that. Great luck with it. Also have a newer version I picked up last Fall.

I just upgraded my personal use to a stihl kombisystem - I went with the KM90R power head. love it, probably one of the best investments I have made, easy to change out heads, you can build your collection over time, I mainly use the trimmer, edger, blower, and edge trimmer. I look forward to buying the pole extension and pole saw for deer season. I would at least go with the KM90R power head.

One of those "why didn't I think of that" things.

So simple yet so useful.

Both my weedeater(Echo) and blower(Stihl) were underwater for two days after Katrina and are still kicking. I need to put new plugs and air filters in both this year though

My MS170 went full submarine about a week after I bought it.

A thousand hours later and still no trouble.
