We're looking at throwing up a minimalist camp and shipping containers seem like a good option in hurricane alley.

Any of you guys have your own or experience in someone elses?

Seen a nice one.

They put two together. Welded them together on top and sides. Cut a hole out between them with the bunk room in the back half with bathroom. French doors separated them. Front was kitchen and living.

Metal roof over it with a porch extended over the front. Looked awesome. They framed the inside and put the foil backed styrofoam as the insulation. Two window units with heat. One in each container.

Insulate that sucker for sound, or you'll be miserable.

Soundproof the shite out of it.

Spray foam would be nice but it's pricey.

You can rent the machine and do it yourself..

Two together is seeming like the best way to go about it for our situation.

shite... I'd live in it. Look at some of the videos out there.

The roof is important though. The cover keeps water from siting on that flat surface on top. You leave a big enough gap you can also use it to store items up there off the ground. Decoys, climbing stands, ice chests, etc

I'm watching this thread because I'm in process of buying 200 acres of timberland. As a guy that once had a front porch stolen off my old hunting cabin, I'm looking for the security that a container can provide.

I'm thinking about 2 20 footers. One for bunks and bathroom, one to keep a little tractor or atv.
Space them out and have a grilling lounging area between them.

No hurry yet because I still have my old deer club for this season.

I'm thinking 2 20's would fit my needs, but I saw a plan for 3 of them connected in an uncompleted square shape with porch in the middle that looks pretty badass

From what I’ve heard there’s minimalist flocks of ducks coming to Louisiana now so make sure whatever you get is mobile.

Have you come accross any good websites for plans? Always wanted to do the same thing but a fishing "camp". Really only need a bunkhouse, ice machine, grill and shower.

Not really. Google search will provide some general layouts but when you dig further into individual sites they want to charge you consultation fees or charge you for their plans before you can see them.

I’ve got a buddy who sells them in my area and I’m going to meet with him soon. If he sends me plans he has done for people I’ll let you know and share

The government had those converted into living quarters for us (contractors) in Iraq and they were set up nice. Cheap, but nice. Not a tent by any means.
Def take the insulation part seriously.
Open floor plan to do what you want, that is for sure.

I saw a camp where they took 3 containers and made them in a U shape, built a roof over it all. In the middle they built a deck for an outdoor kitchen patio area. It was nice when they were done.
