So if some one complains about a person open carrying, you will go harass that person foe ID for open carrying?

If someone calls because there is a black man at the store, will you go up to him asking for his ID because someone called in a complaint?

Both are legal doing no wrong but one I bet you will stay away from because of possible legal astions.

Never said that. I just said that if I do make contact with someone while working a complaint I am going to ask their name and possibly identification

And no law-abiding citizen should have a problem with that, really. It's the price we pay, by means of what we subject ourselves to, to live in an environment with law & order.

Funny enough, I know a teen who was detained and ID'ed for basically being black in a convenience store. The store was robbed a couple nights prior and the cashier was jumpy. He asked to use the restroom and she called the police while he was back there. Cops who detained him were also black.

Right now you have a jumpy populace thanks to a few horrific recent events involving firearms. I can understand LEOs checking out calls in order to provide a little ease of mind.

Fine, a simple hey man, nice day. Get a feel. I am sure the cop can find out in a fe seconds that the one open carrying is fine just by friendly conversation.

I saw that video a while back, and it was obviously a set up to bait the cops

I think most of these videos are just baiting.

This thread is a reminder that I'd like to live far away from people and big city's. deal w as few people in life as needed.

Has not happened yet.
My home town Sheriff is a family friend and so is the city chief. But open carry just isn't a good idea in town.

The public is full of people just waiting to dial 911, person w a gun.

Legality aside, I agree.

Is it not funny how people don't mind knowing there are MANY people walking around carrying concealed (legally) but one guy open carrying strikes something within us?

It doesn't strike anything in me. I do it sometimes.

The prosecution rests... Just kiddin.

I guess to me it's knowing that someone outwardly carrying is that far from drawing it, which means, in essence, using it. Knowing how short of patience so many are today in that they raise hell if they're asked to pull up and wait for an order at McDonalds. Just scary to know they could lose it in a situation that may have ordinarily been resolved with a few curse words, the finger and driving off.

I agree, but you know, we kind of need them.
