quote:True. It's like sleeping on bedsheets after nailing a hottie. Nasty but well worth it.
Yes the shite is very nasty but it's also slightly less sensitive to water intrusion and it's a whole lot easier to keep grease in than oil.

Well that's one good way to put it.

BTW, what is "50 weight" oil? That's what's supposed to go in these.
50 weight would be denoted as "50W" on the container...basically, a higher number means a thicker oil....10W is typically very light and is typically used in hydraulic systems...30W is what is used in most lawnmower engines...90W is heavy and is basically a gear oil...
50W is somewhere in between all of the above...FWIW, unless you fish in some damn cold weather, you could likely use 90W, which would leak less....

quote:Well, new for sure. No idea if those would be right for these hubs.
When you say this, do you mean the end caps that twist onto the hub (like the picture I posted on the 1st page)??

Yeah, I was just asking more if that's the part you'd be replacing.
If all you have to replace are those caps, I'd go that route (if that's the source of the leak). The metals ones we have only cost I think $8.00/cap. May have been more, but it didn't cost more than $40 for both of them...it's a cheap part compared to replacing the hub entirely.

There's a superior grease sold in Deville, La. You aware of it? I have the address and these people sell from their home. A buddy of mine who worked at Ville Platte Iron Works told me about it. I managed to buy a couple of tubes from them and got the contact info. shite LASTS.
Im interested in this. Have their contact info?

I was convinced due to:
no parts locally
Brake guy telling me how many Rangers he has had to switch due to problems.

Had one several years back that went out & couldn't find shite anywhere much less locally.
Swapped to grease and been good ever since

I just knew if I ordered something, I'd get it and it would not fit.

Market Tech 1-800-439-9564. You have to buy a case at a time and I don't remember the price.

Is that why there is always a ranger on the rack at custom?

Would not surprise me. The one in Mike's lot has white oil in the port hub.
