Wish you could get some type of license that takes a day or two to acquire. Take a class, pass a background check. Then you can buy any suppressor or full auto rifle or whatever. You go to FFL, scan the card and buy what you want. Fill out the registration papers. If you get a felony or anything that nullifies the license it gets revoked and you have to sell or transfer any items you bought under said license within 90 days. No reason it should take so damn long. Sounds like infringement to me
I wish you could just order whatever you want through the mail.

I honestly don't understand why the laws are so wacky about suppressors. Politicians talking about them, as if a nut job/murderer is going to decide not to commit a murder only because it's too loud or has too much flash. They'd just not use a gun or blast away anyway.
I blame Hollywood for depicting them as sounding like a fart with one on a .45.

You would think they would like to suppress the sounds of murder in their cities but I guess not. I have no idea why it's so regulated. It's not dangerous. It just makes things quiet

Same hear. 13 months and counting…..

I am 2 weeks in on my efile form 4 so I should know the true wait time soon. I'm not worried about it because I already have a .30cal can. Until I came across this thread I forgot about it.
I also have a form 1 can. Curious to see what they do about that. Will it be grandfathered in or become illegal?

Joe at Meaux Guns in BR saying he’s getting paperwork back in 3-4 months lately. All electronic filing now

I E-Filed a Form 4 on 1/20/22. I will keep you guys updated.

The e-file should speed things up quite a bit, but there's a massive backlog of paper forms right now.
The good thing is that as more suppressors are purchased, the closer we get to being able to claim "common use" and potentially a path to deregulation.

He’s getting back EFile Form 4s in 4 months? They haven’t been out 4 months.

What makes them garbage?

Garbage design and economically made. Everything they do is a monocore. Monocores are so outdated. Way better stuff exists for the same price.

I don't recall the total time waited for my Form 4 but it was 10 days shy of a year from when my tax stamp was cashed.

Delay is infringement.
I'm surprised some lawyers haven't made millions off this yet.

Update.... Just got an email from Silencer Central I've been approved!!! 13 months it took.
Posted on 3/4/22 at 7:39 am to LSUlefty
I eFiled two form 1s one Jan 25th.
Just got email back yesterday on mine. They did not deny them, but want a lot more information on construction and plans, and want clarity as to whether they will be built from a kit, or kit parts, and if so which ones.
I'm a welder and machinist by trade, with a shop and plan to build everything from scratch. I'm going to respond answering their questions, but it certainly seems as if they are cracking down, or preparing to crack down hard on all of the "solvent trap" makers selling parts online.

can you cancel your application with the ATF?
Yes, which is exactly why the ATF has created this complicated and inefficient system for approvals. They want you to cancel because they don't want you to have one to begin with. They have made it a PITA as much as possible to dissuade people from even applying.

I agree with the above poster. Sounds like someone needs to take the ATF to court over this. Imagine if it took over a year to register to vote. They would definitely call it infringement.
It needs to be like the background check, where the FBI (in this case ATF) has a limited time to reply or you're approved by default. Then add a question about NFA purchases to your normal taxes when you file.
