black Friday sales
Who typically has good black Friday deals. Looking for a scope. Was going to settle and upgrade later, but if there are possible good deals, I'm going to wait and possibly just splurge now.

Finally got a camo scheme I like. Just got that primary arms prism this afternoon .

Every single firearm vendor in America now. Gun and ammo demand is about plummet for the next 3.5 yrs.

Did you paint that yourself? I'm about to clean a maverick 88 and do a similar paint job, so let me know any tips/tricks.

Yes I did. Rustoleum rattle can job, used torn brown packing paper and some stencils and a old football jersey. This is the second time I have painted this rifle, first time was ok but it was lacking. Outline your rifle on a piece of cardboard and try some different patterns.

Ooh good call. What base color did you use? I'm thinking base of tan, but I live in NC so base of green may be better.

I kinda doubt that.
Prices for budget ARs have about hit rock bottom.
Premium lines will remain high but demand for those will go down.
Ammo prices still need to drop another 20%-30% and hold for awhile.
Serious people always want more ammo. More people are competing and practicing these days. More people are 3-gunning and BR shooting than ever before. IPSC and IDPA matches continue to grow. More ranges with stages are popping up everywhere.

Winchester sent out a letter to venders last month saying that ammo prices will be rising 5-10% on all ammunition orders starting in Jan 2025.
Even if it is back ordered they will not honor the price if shipped after jan 2025.
So, price of ammo isn't going to go down...

Which proves one of two things.
Either demand is still waaaay up regardless of Trump winning.
Or supplies, component prices are waaaaaay up and it's costing more to produce.
They have profit margins to meet ... or either they're gouging.
Either way, The Law of Supply and Demand will dictate ammo prices for the foreseeable future.
When we quit buying it prices will come down. Until then, ammo remains a precious metal commodity.

This is what the letter said is the reason.

Hopefully Trump will solve this problem.
Elon may have a hand in it as well. I cannot imagine what our government must be paying for small arms ammo these days.
Speculation on tarrifs could be playing a huge part in the price increase as well.
Ammo should not be as expensive as it is.
Basic fmj 115 gr 9mm is avg about 25 cents a round. When Obama took office it was 8.9 cents per ... it tripled under his admin, then fell back some under Trump then jumped again under Biden.
Basic 147/150 gr x51 and 110gr x39 are insane.
And these all copper projectiles and composite jacked projectiles are out of hand as well.
55, 62 and 77 gr fmj 5.56 is the worst right now. The surplus market has dried up and, even then, what's left is nothing but seconds.
A lot of it has to do with politics.

Looking at mounting my old hunting rifle scope on an AR, what height do y'all like for an AR scope mount?

Depends on the scope really but I believe most of mine are high rings even LPVOs.

It's an old dead ringer 3-9x40 scope that came on the gun when my dad bought it for me in high school.
Just throwing it on a budget AR to shoot varmints around the camp.

The way the AR is designed, high rings would probably be the best.
