ha the only thing with that it why go grendel over creedmore in a bolt gun? you get the ar15 lower in AR platform but what benefits do you get in a bolt gun platform. nothing i can think of.

How about a .300 blk with a 16” barrel. You have silencers?
In a bolt gun.
In a bolt gun.

I have a 10in ar pistol in 300blk. While it is fun to shoot, it is so expensive. Maybe I should just put the grendel AR up next on the building block...

If you want a 6.5 the build you one.
Get a timed and trued Rem 700 action or something like a zermatt origin action. Find a barrel, trigger, stock and your good to go. Easier to build than an AR.
I’m working on building my son a 6.5 cm right now.
Waiting on the barrel to get here. It’s only been 4 damned months since I ordered it.

Yea I have never built a rifle, and kinda wanted to. I have built many ARs hence quickly moving in the direction of just building one of those.

My build is more for target shooting as it’s heavy as can be (15lbs). But it makes one hole 5 shot groups at 100 yds when my load is right.
I haven’t done it lately but take it out to 600yds in f class competitions. It’s fun.
A bolt action is extraordinarily easy to build.

I have a question about my hog gun set up:
.300 blkout, 10.5" barrel 1:8 twist
Pulsar thermal scope
I bought this during covid and the ammo shortage so the only bullets i could find were Fiocchi 125Gr SST. blue tips. I zeroed the gun at 60yds w/ no issues. Targets at 60 yds were kill shots. Noticed at 70-80 yds i would miss.
Went back to paper and here were my results
Fiocchi 125gr SST
60 yard zero:
- 60 yds = on target
- 80 yds = roughly 6" high and 6" right
- 100 yds = roughly 12" high and 12" right.
* sometimes the miss would be way low but 90% were high and right
80 yard zero
- 80 yds = on target
- 100 yds = roughly 6" high and 6" right
* same results as 60 yd zero
*If i zeroed the gun a XX yards then it would be accurate to that distance only
I guessed it was an ammo stabilization issue so i picked up some AE 150Gr
American Eagle 150gr FMJ
60yd zero
- 60 yds = on target
- 80 yds = on target
100yd zero
- 55 yds = on target
- 100 yds = on target
- 150 yds = on target
I assumed the gun just likes 150gr bullets so shot the AE 150g all summer with great accuracy but lack luster kill ratio. Recently I have stocked up on the Winchester 150gr XP rounds in hops to increase the kill ratio. I havent shot these too much yet but it zeroed fine.
Ideally Id like to shoot some of the faster 110gr rounds by hornady or barnes. The Fiocchi results turned me away from the lighter rounds but this set up should stablize 110-125gr with no issues. Do yall think it was a Fiocchi issue or a bullet weight issue?
ETA: all of this was UN-suppressed. Hopefully within the next month ill have my suppressor. Ill continue to shoot supers to keep my 100+ yd shots available. i have hornady 190gr sub-x for when i want subsonics

Anyone build a size charging upper? this looks nice but damn it is expensive
Ya, and that handle is going to slamming back and going forward.
Needs to be a non-reciprocal charging handle otherwise its just going to hurt when it hits you.

There is a stabilization calculator website that I've seen
Google it and see if 1:8 is too fast for those.
I don't think it is but check to see.

What are everyone's thoughts on .300 blackout vs 5.56 for home defense? Trying to get my AR done before everything goes to crap
