That is a good deal. The “blemish” is usually nothing.

Thinking of taking the plunge into building an AR. I’ve read some of the linked info on the front end of this thread and it seams like an easy and rewarding experience but the options are insanely unlimited. I want to take it slow and economical on the first one.
What is the board’s opinion on the Spikes stripped lowers that Bowie outfitters says they carry on their web site?
I’m looking at you Carson

Spikes is fine as is pretty much any stripped lower.
I’ve made several including 80% and every one but the one that I spent the most money on were a nice tight fit.
I have a spikes on my son’s 6.8 deer rifle.

Spikes are fine.
Check out aero precision if they have them.
There a very few real differences between lower. Most of the differences have very little bearing on actual performance. In plain terms...a lower is a lower.

That’s kinda the idea I was getting with what I’ve read so for.
The Aero Precision with the threaded bolt catch pin looks really nice and the upper tension screw seams like a good idea.
Anybody in the Baton Rouge area carry AP or will I have to order it?

Those are 2 worthy features outside a just a standard lower. Not needed but nice if the price is right.

There's a gun show in Slidell this weekend if you happen to be coming this way and wanted to get one without having to order. They usually always have a few vendors with Aero lowers.

Spikes is fine. Aero would probably be cheaper though and there's no dueling dick rollmark.
PSA sells theirs for $40.

The Slidell gun show was a success. Thanks for the heads up on the gun show onelochevy.
Paid $75.00 for the Aero Precision M4E1 that I was hoping to find and I ordered the Spikes lower I was interested in too.
Looks like I’ll be building two now.
Think I’ll start looking at mag. releases next.

Awesome man. Glad you were able to get your hands on one.
I finished up a couple builds today.
Did a retro style XM177 style build.
PSA M4 stamped lower
JSE Surplus stripped A2 upper
Brownells 12.7" barrel
Pinned & welded XM177 compensator
The other is a New Frontier Armory 9mm that takes MP5 mags. The C5 side charging upper, stripped lower, LPK, BCG and 7" handguard are all from NFA. 8" barrel is from KAK. Been waiting since October for NFA to get complete uppers back in stock but I finally had enough and just assembled it myself.

I think you will really like that New Frontier.
I do mine for sure.
ETA: Oh, funny a story with the optic on mine: I found on optics planet (actually it was DVOR) the Vortex Sparc 2. It was $150. No the best by any stretch but will do what I want which is put me in target.
Well, I set it on the picatinny rail and was trying to hold it and get the allen wrench on the screw. Well, the stupid thing fell right onto the countertop (granite) in the kitchen.
The back lense cracked.
Idiot.
On its way back to Vortex now.

Good deal. It's $100 on Aero's site.

Do y'all prefer MLOK or keymod? Seems like the former is slimmer and more popular.

Mlok is winning this battle by far.

The stuff Geissele is making for the military is M-LOK, so M-LOK.

I prefer m-lok, but I just picked up a 9 inch Noveske NHR in keymod for $75 from their clearance sale. Couldn’t help myself.

Damn, you got one helluva deal.
Posted on 2/8/20 at 8:38 pm to Korin
I’m thinking a 10.3 pistol build with one of Magpul’s new braces. Don’t know what receiver set yet, but I would like to use the anti-rotation pin on the handguard.
