well, let me back up. You need a vice block to hold the upper but those aren't expensive.
Highly recommend this one, easily my favorite that I’ve used. Plus it can handle lowers as well.

you will need a vice as well.
If you have one or access to one everything else is pretty straight forward.

If you dont want to buy a geiseille reaction rod, I highly recommend a clamp style block and not one that uses the pins or inserts in the upper.
I have a broken upper receiver if you want to see why.
A piece of wood would work great if you route it out. Use a piece of card board when clamping and it should mar the finish.

How shitty are the PSA bundles? LINK
So basically I have a stripped upper sitting around. I have a can on the way so I want to build a pistol .300bklout to SBR later. I would also like to build a grendal. IDK why, cause I like guns. And at some point build a 6.5 creedmoor as well.
So should I save on the 300blk and build cheap and get some good stuff for the grendal build later?
ETA: I'm now thinking since the 300blk will have the can on it most the time it would most likely be shoot the most. Making me think I should pass on the cheap PSA parts

Here’s the new one. The scope seems to be pretty amazing. (Leupold vx-5hd 3-15x44)

ok over the weekend i started planning my 300 blackout pistol/sbr build. Let me know what you guys think on the different choices. i will buy the part over the course of a few months and try to find deals on each. This isnt really a budget build but more of best back for your buck build being lightweight. This will house a supressor 99% of the time.
My plan is to get a get stripped uppers and lowers from sulzer, cerakoted in tan and getting my rail cerakoted or buying one from him so they are all the same color. Sp Prop, ill talk with you through this to see what you could get these parts for. This prices im posting are just a quick research. But i do want to build this from scratch. Let me know yalls opinion on the stuff i have chosen.
Barrel
Faxon 330blk chrome lined 8.5" - $189
Wilson Combat Match Grade Barrel, 300blk, SBR Tactical, 8" - $274
Noveske 8.5" 300blk - $350 w/gas block
Gas Block
Faxon low profile - $30
Samson lightweight low profile - $60
Gas tube
Faxon Pistol length - $16
Rail
Samson freefloat 9" - $103
BCG
Light Weight AIM NiB BCG - $100
Charging Handle
Raptor Charging handle - $50
Trigger
CMC single stage flat dropin - $99

I like how the rifle has some colors, but that cooler doesn't.

Be patient on that trigger. Can be found for $100 often. Or another affordable trigger would be the larue mbt (2 stage) for ~90.

That Wilson Barrel is best bang for your buck. I have a 14.7 Wilson Paul Howe in a Recce build I did and its badass.

I bought a Rise Armament single stage drop in trigger for the 6.5 grendel I'm building.
Only had a chance to run about 5 rounds through it but it was good. Really good.
3.5 lbs pull and very crisp
Brownells for $79

Forgot to ask Prop when I picked up my upper today, but what are you guys using for Grendel mags? E-Lander?
Posted on 9/11/18 at 6:27 pm to bootlegger
I used c products mags, but they were the only ones availble when I had a grendel.

Someone talk me out of a 12.5” 556 that will possibly be suppressed down the road.
REALLY like my shorty 300BLK but the increased 556 blast and loss of FPS vs 16” have me worried
