I got the Hybrid and the Sparrow. Haven't shot them yet, just got them this weekend and had no time.
I love my 700 in the magpul stock. I posted a full pic of it above. Its in a 308 and is soft shooting with no brake...looking forward to trying it with the can. Really want to try it with some subsonic hunting round like THIS

Those subsonic's look impressive as hell. IWST.
How does the 700 perform in that stock? Did you notice any accuracy improvement or loss from the original stock and configuration?

To be honest when I bought the 700 I bought the stock and switched it before first shot so I have no idea how it changed if at all. I haven't had much time with it yet...got it together and sighted in to hunt with last season. I want to go back to the range and see what ammo it likes best and then see what it will do. I need more free time in my life

Starting a 300 blackout "pistol" build. We'll talk cans later but my question at the moment is the barrel. I put an Odin Works on my 223/556 build. Really accurate. Should I spend $300 on a barrel for a rifle that will not be long range? Or buy a $100 PSA barrel? I'm not in a rush to get in finished so the price doesn't matter but if I don't need to spend that much on the barrel I may not. The plan for the rifle is throw a red dot on it and hunt coyotes and pigs with maximum shot of 75 yards.

I wouldn't spend $300 on a Blackout barrel. I built mine right after the Sandy Hook gun shortage so my barrel was a no name brand that I found off a website I can't even remember. It was the only place that had one in stock at the time. I can ring 8" steel at 100 yards consistently with subs which is about as accurate as I care to be with a 8.5" barrel.
I've also had good luck with Brownell's barrels. If I build another 300 I would put a one of their $115.00 barrels on it.

I would not spend $300 on a 300BLK barrel as they are not touted as the most accurate round and inside 100 yards even an 8 MOA barrel is likely still going to kill hogs/coyotes. I also would not buy a cheap PSA barrel. I would buy a US made barrel from a company like Ballistic Advantage or Faxon. And if I was going to really do it my way 300BLK would be the last cartridge I would choose for a gun you intend to hunt with, or really do anything with. It doesn't do anything better than any of the other 4 main commercially supported cartridges with the exception of suppression and having a catchy name. For hunting with and AR-15 I would suggest 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel, with a heavy lean towards the 6.5 since it can do everything the 6.8 does and double the range. Sure a 300BLK can be used, but I think you will be a lot more pleased with the performance of the 6.5 or 6.8

Prop, would you do either of those in a pistol build?
I have a 6.8 but it's a 20" barrel. Very accurate and will wallop a deer. Will be building a 6.5 grendel at some point.

Appreciate the advice. I will look into those barrels. I get what your saying about the 300BLK. I am trading some stuff with a buddy and will be getting an AR that he built. I don't want another 223 but the plan is to convert it to a 6.5 grendel. I'm wanting a pistol as well and decided on a 300BLK because I'd also like it suppressed. I like to have a different calibers.

I wouldn't. 6.5 Grendel velocities start to drop a good bit when you get below 16". Of course, you probably wouldn't care too much about velocity from a pistol either. YMMV.

I would absolutely do a 12" 6.5 Grendel hog hammer. Even in a 12" barrel the Grendel, not schockingly, smokes the thrown-potato-esque ballistics of the 300BLK.
ETA:
129grn bullet at 2200 ft/s at the muzzle is still dropping 1008 ft-lbs of energy at 200 yards in a 12" Grendel. A 125grn 300BLK out of a 12" barrel making 2093 ft/s at the muzzle delivers a lack luster 700 ft-lbs at that same range.

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought a 6.5 grendel as a pistol build. Looks like I'm going to get a 12" 6.5 grendel pistol. Will still convert my new 223 to one as well.
Can you tell me a couple of companies you would go with? Grendel barrels are so hard to find I'd like to have a couple of companies to keep an eye on.

Ballistic Advantage just released their lineup of 6.5 barrels and Mark at Precision Firearms (not the shitty BR range) is spendy but makes a damn good 6.5 barrel.

Thanks, appreciate it. Could you point me in the direction of what buffer system I would need for a 6.5 Grendel pistol build?
Posted on 6/29/17 at 2:08 pm to LSUfreak1459
H2 would likely be fine

Intrested to see how this goes. Been thinking about a 6.5 or 6.8. How is ammo availability? Haven't looked really.

I can get Hornady SST 123g or Hornady Black anytime I go to Academy or Sportsmans Warehouse in Slidell. Shouldn't be a problem.

2nd on Precision. I went with JP for my 22". I wouldn't hesitate to go with Lilja, Odin Works, or any of the listed above though.

I had some really low expectations for the 6.5 Grendel Hornady Black ELD Match when I saw the box with the Gadsden "don't tread" on it, but it shoots really really well for factory ammo.

Prop, I've decided to continue with the 300BLK build. But will be converting another 556 to a 6.5 Grendel. Debating whether to order another lower and make it a 12"' pistol or go with a rifle barrel. What would you say is the range on a 6.5 Grendel in terms of accuracy and hitting power? The farthest shots i can take where I shoot, is about 350.
