Alrighty baws and gurls, What's yall preferred barrel length on SBR? BCM has some nice 11.5 and 12.5 uppers but that decision thing is tough.

I haven't built it yet, but I'm going with 12.5. If I was absolutely certain I was going to get suppressed, I would go 10.5.

I was going to do 10.5 but went 11.5 because of the barrel I decided I wanted.

I just ordered the Faxon 18" GUNNER. All I need now is a trigger and buttstock. I'll order those later this week. Hoping to have this build done by early September. Was going to draw it out longer but frick it.

Look at the bright side Ell, when you say your rifles are at the bottom of the lake, you'll actually be telling the truth.

Should I go with a Spike's Tactical ST-T2 or some other heavy buffer or regular carbine buffer?

Running an 18" Faxo Gunner barrel. Rifle length gas and .625 gas port.

Got my 10.5 barrel yesterday. Still waiting on my barrel net and free floating rail to put on it. Still need to paint my upper receiver. I'm amazed at how much "smaller" it looks against my original AR. Can you put lights and lasers on pistols? I'm thinking of putting that $18 laser light I have on my original I got from Walmart on my pistol for "close quarters".

I think that light is actually for pellet rifles but IDGAF.

Bushnell AR Optics 1-4x24mm. I like it. Gets the job done. Really only complaint is that I wouldn't want exposed turrets on 1-4 scope on a battlefield rifle. But that one isn't a battlefield rifle so I guess that's OK.

In the mid level price range, how much difference is there between complete uppers? Is a $650 BCM way better than a $400 PSA? I intend to go with a top of line BCG but wasn't sure on the rest.

When you buy a complete upper, you're buying the barrel, handguards, sights (if included), and BCG. The "shell" makes little difference, IMHO.

ETA: And, before Prop reminds me, you're buying the "decisions" the manufacturer made regarding gas port size, component selection and other manufacturing processes.

How many magazines are too many magazines? I believe I'm up to 7. All loaded with more in an ammo case.

7 30rd & 4 20rd (for range) mags minimum per AR15, with several bandoleers loaded on stripper clips with guides.

Can't have too many.

Too many people place too much importance on these tags 4150CMV, 1/7, Carpenter 158, 7075-T6, "Mil-Spec" receiver extension, chrome lined, MPI, HPT, etc. etc.

A 4150 CMV 1/7 Chrome Lined barrel from Company A is not the same as a 4150 CMV 1/7 Chome Lined barrel from Company B. Company A may have strict policies in place to ensure all of their barrels leave their ISO accredited factory within 2/10ths of a thousandth tolerance. Company B may have meth heads cutting chambers with dull tools, but they're cheap and shoot. Likewise, a Carpenter 158 bolt from company A is not the same as a Carpenter 158 bolt from company B. Lack of experience, care, etc. can easily lead to over hardened bolts that are way more likely to break at the cam pin hole. MPI won't catch an over hardened bolt unless it led to surface cracks, nor will one HP round. I could go on, but it really just boils down to quality control and the amount of fricks the company gives about the products it is selling to customers. There is no such thing as a "mil-spec" AR-15 and just because a component uses military specified materials, coatings, treatments, etc. does not mean that it's a good or bad product. Generally higher priced items are going to be higher quality because Quality Control has a cost. Caveat Emptor, there is a ceiling. A higher price does not always equal higher quality. Sometimes you're paying for a name or a lack of efficiency.
