Bad news. UPS doesnt know where my rifle is at the moment. I went to the Port Allen center this afternoon. It left New Orleans yesterday but has never been scanned in at PA. Larue has insurance on it. Considering what everyone else has lost I am really not that upset about it. I was just hoping to be able to shoot it this weekend. Hopefully it shows up next week.

On July 13, 2006, US Army Reservist David Olofson of Berlin, Wisconsin, lent an AR-15 rifle to Robert Kiernicki, who took the gun to a local shooting range.[5][6] The AR-15 rifle broke while being used and had an internal malfunction and discharged three or four rounds and then jammed; Kiernicki did this several times with the rifle jamming each time.[5][6] Following a telephone complaint of automatic gunfire, Berlin police showed up at the range, and after questioning Kiernicki, confiscated Olofson's AR-15 and contacted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) about the incident.[5][6]
quote:
Olofson was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 5, 2006, on charges of knowingly transferring a machine gun in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(o).[6] Shortly before the trial began, Olofson filed an evidentiary motion to compel the prosecution to produce documents concerning the ATF's testing procedures, correspondence between the ATF and the manufacturer of Olofson's AR-15 regarding M-16 parts used in such rifles, and the ATF's registration history of AR-15 rifles containing M-16 parts.[6] The trial court judge denied the motion on the first day of trial, concluding that the information sought was not exculpatory under Brady v. Maryland.[6] According to the testimony of Kiernicki, Olofson's purpose for lending the gun was to sell it to Kiernicki. Kiernicki also testified Olofson knew about the third automatic firing mode, but that it jammed. The prosecution also provided evidence from Olofson's computer with proof of acquiring M-16 parts, which could be used to make an AR-15 automatic, and of Olofson's participation in a group that was described as "vigilante" according to U.S. Assistant Attorney Gergory Haanstad.[5]

Correct me if I'm wrong but that reads to me like the guy testified that he modified an AR for the purpose of selling it as select fire? Seems like a lot more evidence than "I saw it touch his shoulder" and "no it was my cheek".
Also there is a big difference in a gun firing auto (clearly stated in the nfa) and the classification of a pistol being used as a rifle. Such as, if you put a browning buck mark against your shoulder is a buck Mark now a rifle?

Well the gun malfunctioned and Olofsons story was that ATF rigged his gun. He said he never put in the machjne gun parts. He didnt listen to his legal team and it costs him almost 3 years.
Just a point of if your shouldering a brace its not legal. Theybare bound to make some examples of folks at some point.

The bag is tactical performance...some thing I just grabbed at the academy years ago. I'm currently looking for some soft bags that will hold 2-3 rifles.
I'm really glad how that asr mount turned out with this rail. Couldn't fit better.

By illegally taking possession of a firearm and then giving him a compliance headache when you bring it to him?
LaRue has transferred the firearm to your dealer in their books. It's travel is between LaRue and UPS. If UPS loses or fails to deliver the rifle it's on LaRue to get it back or file a claim and send a new one. The ATF would view you picking it up as either an illegally transferred firearm, putting you and LaRue, in a bind or a stolen firearm. My guess is stolen because LaRue would not want to be involved. As for the dealer side if you bring it to him he can log it in from you, which would put a stolen firearm on his books. This would probably at the least cause your FFL to lose his license if the firearm were ever traced which could happen if it is later stolen from you and used in a crime or you commit one with it. Or he could log it in from LaRue which would not be true since you inserted yourself in the middle and took possession from LaRue. Furthermore, if you piss the dealer off he could report what happened to the ATF. Me personally, I would kindly ask you to take your stolen firearm elsewhere. Since it would be my arse on the line I like to keep a squeaky clean book, and won't even commit the smallest felony for a stranger until the payoff hits the millions.
Something else to think about is if you package is lost were you going to search the facility and find it? Or if it wasn't lost, wouldn't it be on the truck the next day? So what's the point of driving out to PA? Let LaRue deal with UPS. You just be patient, it will arrive.

NOLA, that really is a great looking rifle. I'm not big on the skull lower (not knocking, just not for me), but everything else looks really slick
Going to get that exact same SLR handguard for my next 300blk build.

Dude calm down I know the law. Your making a lot of fricking assumptions. There isn't anything that says I can't go ask where my package is located. I wasn't going to take possession of it.
Show me anywhere in the US code where it's unlawful to ask ups where a firearm is located based on a tracking number? Your acting like a democrat.

Put an MREX rail, Gissele super scar trigger and Vltor stock on my 17S. Much improved over stock.
