I looked at that too that's what lead me to the a5 system. I thought the JP also needed there low mass BCG and was all kinda pricy. It's going to be on my 10.5 sbr and I'll run it both suppressed and not and want to have an adjustable gas block to tune it.

Nope, spring will run fine as far as I know with any bcg. Have never had a hiccup with BCM bcg's, and they're standard milspec. They recently came out with H2 versions for SBR/suppressed applications as well. Picked one up for my 9" 300BLK and its a noticeable difference from their old standard one.

So why did you pick that over the A5 system?
I'll have to do more reading on both. I want a smooth low recoil reliable shooter. So far I just have the spikes billet jack lower and billet upper and the bcm enhanced lpk.
Nice looking gun MM

Thanks fellas! I'm anxiously awaiting the BCG so I can put a few rounds through it

A5 wasn't around at the time for one
. The main things the JP provides is complete elimination of the obnoxious spring noise from a traditional buffer, and just overall makes the action smoother imo. If shooting suppressed, the spring noise is much more noticeable, therefore the JP spring really shines in such set ups. Being that the A5 is still a traditional spring and buffer, the JP is still better than it in that aspect. It's hard to really understand I guess if you've never shot 2 suppressed AR's side by side, one with and one without a JP spring.

planning on shooting primarily suppressed (or hell, even not suppressed), I highly recommended a JP silent capture spring. I can't live without em at this point, have one in all my builds.

It's a single contained unit rather than a big arse individual spring with separate buffer.
ETA: rather that's how it differs. As far as how it's better, see the above post.

The spring sound has never bothered me but I never shot with a can either. Some with the a5 say grease stops the spring sound a bunch. Seems a lot of the a5 system but the JP seems to be real popular with the 3 gun tournament types. I'll have to look more.

The primary advantages of the A5 system is that it decreases bolt bounce and delays unlocking time.

Doesn't it also lessen the recoil?

A H1, H2, H3 buffer will do the same thing. A heavier buffer will, oops, increase unlocking time allowing for smoother extraction due to lower chamber pressures.
ETA: You always want to run the heaviest buffer you can that will still allow the rifle to cycle the lightest ammo you shoot.

I'm well aware.
However, I think the A5 system does a better job and potentially allows function across a broader spectrum of ammunition and gas port sizes.

Thats what im gathering from reading...and being a rifle spring its makes the carbine gas system run smoother and softer? Wish I could shoot a A5 and JP gun side by side
I dont want to end up with a gun that i have to adjust every time I chance ammo brand...seems like i have seen that mention with the JP.

I would stay away from the JP.
If you can find an A5 kit, it comes with the standard A5H2.
That should run with almost anything.
If you can't find the kit, or can't piece one together; let me know.
What set up (barrel length, barrel brand, BCG, ammo) are you running?

So what problem does the A5 kit solve that a 3.0, H1, H2, H3 buffer won't? Why is it worth it? At least JP can say their widget eliminates the 'boing' sound.

Alright... my first post in this thread. I already have an AR15 (thanks, GT!). But I'm about to start my very first build. I've been doing research first trying to get an idea of what I want. First, I picked a really shitty time to get parts.
Everyone seems to be selling out of shite. Ah well...
What I want is an M16A4 (Marksman) clone. So 20" barrel, fixed buttstock, dual-stage trigger, scope, etc. And blacked out.
I'm just making it known here at this point.
Very early in all of this. I have a lot more studying to do and this won't be an overnight build. Gonna take a little time to get the parts. And no idea if I'm going to get an upper assembly or piece it together.

What im trying to find is optimally the 6 position tube they have with the spring and buffer kit (about $100 bucks) becasue I dont want to run there butt stock. I think I found the 6 position tube but i need to call the place on monday and make sure there online stock is correct. I have found the complete set with the stock in a place or two but I dont want there stock and the 7 position tube, while it will work on other stocks, wont be perfect.
I am pretty sure I want a 10.5" barrel but have not got that far in the research and buying yet...so im game for whatever. Id like a lighter profile if possible and wise.
The BCG I have been looking at trying out maybe one of the NP3 coated kinds...or maybe NiB coated but I think id rather the NP3. If I dont do coated then probably a BCM BCG. That was before looking at buffers...so I dont know if I would do better with a "enhanced" or "light" BCG with the buffers im looking at.
Its not so much that im looking to "fix" a problem im having...im building so I need a buffer tube spring and all already...so if the A5 system will help make it smoother and softer I might do that from the get go.

save your money get a regular phos/chrome bcg and a regular buffer kit with an H2 or H3 buffer. Use the $100-150 you save to buy ammo or put towards a better trigger.
