Ya, I've seen some used 16" barrels for about 600 on facebook that I could send out and get cut.

Purely a want and absolutely no need or purpose what so ever. A 13" scar would just scream awesomeness and America.

I am sure you already know, but the SCAR 17 is known to abuse the shite out of optics. That said, with a solid mount and good optic, this shouldn't be an issue.

Ya, I'm being a woman right now and can't make up my mind between guns.

I think the Bushnell is tough enough for the scar and if not, ill have to try the warranty.

Doesn't really matter of the bolt gun doesn't get sold.

If I were in your position, it would be between GAP10, PredatOBR, AD17, SR25, and Noveske N6.

Anyone know where I can pick up some gas rings for my bolt on the northshore?

Bought my first one today. Went with a Bushmaster M4A3. Was deciding between that and a Windham as a "starter" and went with this. Any thoughts on the stock iron sight vs adding optics? Suggestions on optics if so?

Aimpoint Pro if you just want a redot. If you want a "scope" I love my Leupold VXR 1.5×4 with firedot. What it looks like on my PredatOBR.

looking for some input here, currently i have 1 AR in 5.56, 16 inch barrel, spikes lower, PSA upper, shoots great, love the gun, its nothing special though

so i purchased another lower and am trying to figure out what to do with it, maybe another caliber, not sure

initially i wanted to build a pistol, but I changed my mind and want to build a longer range gun. I'm thinking that 6.5 grendel may be the best caliber for what i am looking for. when I say long range, i dont really have specifics, not sure what I can get out of the AR platform, but the longer the better.

maybe something like this

The 6.5 Grendel is suppose to be an amazing round. I have no experience with it though so I won't comment. I do have one in a 6.8 spc with a 20" barrel that looks very similar to the one you have in your post. My son shot his first deer with it this past year and at 70+yds dropped her in her tracks. I was using SSA ammo with 110 gr TSX. Can't get them anymore so I'm working up some loads now. Shot some this past sat and I'm just amazed at how accurate that gun is. At longer ranges I would want to shoot 95gr out of it however.

I also built an AR-10 in .308. That gun is awesome and looks very similar to my 6.8 but bigger. I want to do another at some point in the 6.5 creedmoor.

what are some advantages and disadvantages of these different rounds?

i'm really not familiar with 6.5 grendel or creedmoor nor the 6.8 spc

I have a .308 already so dont think ill go with an ar-10

The 6.5 grendel and 6.8 SPC will be pretty close ballistically though the 6.5 will perform better in longer ranges. Biggest problem with it though is they aren't easy to find. If you reload, the skies the limit.

Grendel rounds are pretty easy to find now. Wolf even makes a steel case round.

Cabelas has plenty in stock at the moment

SG does as well

If that's the case, I'd be hard pressed to pick the 6.8 over the 6.5.

They're both suppose to be awesome rounds and much better than the 5.56. I do know that the 6.8 is stupid accurate. This past sat I put 3 rounds in basically the same hole at 100yds.

wow, almost $1 a round, pretty pricey!

how hard is it to get into reloading?

eta: are there other options i am not considering? with your regular AR lower...

22LR
5.56/.223
.308
6.8 SPC
6.5 grendel
6.5 creedmoor

anything else?

upfront cost is a little steep but after that you can really dial it in. I love playing with them.

I shoot a lot so I bought a progressive press (Dillon rl550b). Once I have it set up I can really pump out high volume rounds. In stuff like the 6.8 or .308 I slow down a lot and basically use it as a single stage press.

primers are about .03 per round, bullets are ~ .35-.80 per round in rifles and powder is going to run around .10-.25 per round (if I remember correctly)

Will the basic $160 complete lower from PSA suffice for basic range stuff? And the is the magpul stock worth the $25(?) extra?

Thanks
