Found some parts, and plan on adding a barrel and 15" key mod to it.
5.56 NATO
Dpms lower with dpms lpk,
spikes tactical upper,
magpul CTR stock,
magpul moe-k grip,
bcm gunfighter charging handle (large),
m16 full auto bolt carrier group
lantac muzzle break/flash hider
I'm getting all of this for 500... Good deal?

Why?
My uncle is in the defense contracting business and does a lot of large arms work (weapon systems for apaches and other military aircraft). He has the opportunity to shoot a lot of small arms and him and his buddies own a ton of them so that's how I know as much as I do (by shooting with them). But yeah, Indians aren't usually gun people

Think that's a decent deal?

Make sure the spikes upper doesn't have a FSB on it. Otherwise you will have to change it out to fit the keymod rail. If it does, no big deal, you just have to change it to a lo pro gas block.

How much is one of those? He had a YHM quad rail on it, but I want the 15" key mod with the 16" barrel. I like that look. He had a 500 dollar barrel, but I don't need that shite for what I'm going to do with it.

A lo pro gas block? You can find them easily for less than $50.

Actually found one on Primary Arms for $19.99. It doesn't come with a pin though. Make sure you get one.

What are your plans with it besides shooting Ali Baba Muhammad?

So, I'm going to put a Meopta 4.5-14x50 with McWhorter reticle on my AR-10 and mount it with Burris Xtreme rings.
What do you think about it?
I've order everything except the barrel and hand guard at this point.

Before I torque and stake the castle nut and end plate - tell me how much I'll miss a sling swivel there if I skip it?
I know I'll have 2-point options, but I got to this point and didn't even think about 1-point as an option. And, I haven't made a final decision on how to sling it. I am trying to keep the weight down on this one, so maybe the right answer is to go with the end plate in the kit, but I wanted to float it out here before I make the (semi) permanent step of staking.

I put the magpul asap on mine after a couple of weeks having nothing. I didn't think I'd like a single point but I kinda like it.

If it makes you feel better the castle but has never been staked on my gun. I used locktight. Its been 7 years. Running original magpul asap, rsa, and sling .
Much better options available today.

I understand and I know that folks use alternative methods. I'm staking it - the question is - before I stake it, should I swap out the end plate with a Tapco or Magpul with a single point sling mount. I'm torn at this point. My ultimate intention is to build several more over the years and I've deliberately kept this one pretty vanilla - MOE grip, CTR stock, mil-spec controls, ALG QMS trigger - about as vanilla as possible while making "smart" upgrades.
I don't think I'll like a single-point sling, either, but you don't know until you do, right?
