Thanks, what I was thinking. I did a little research arm dyer you ousted this and it looks like it would lose ~100ft/sec. Not enough to worry about.

What caliber are you planning on?

Im debating on dumping the bolt gun and picking one up.

My preferences:

308 16-18" barrel
6.5 Creed 20" barrel
243 24" barrel

Sadly, if I get rid of the bolt gun Ill downgrade. Looking at the Seekins SP10 either 20" 6.5 creed or 16" 308. Leaning towards the 308 simply because Id like to take it hunting with the suppressor and would like to find ammo anywhere and everywhere and keep it handy.

Seekins makes the GAP 10 receivers. You can suppress the 6.5 if you have a .308 can. Also, 6.5 costs about the same as .308 and is readily available online. Just some suggestions

Trying to decide that now.

Will likely build a .308 but thinking hard about the 6.5 creedmore.

I already have a .308 and ammo is easy to find.

6.5 creedmore is such an awesome round though.
I'll be loading whichever I decide so I'm not that worried about it.

If I do a 6.5 though I'd put a minimum of 24" barrel on it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but everything is interchangeable between the two other than the barrel, right?

Ya, same bolt face and everything. Everyone has a .308, you will have a cool gun that stands out if you go 6.5

I may just get two lowers. One of my closest friends has them and I'm getting what I think is a good deal on them.

2 lowers will mean 2 builds. So you could do .308 and 6.5 on dedicated receivers instead of 2 uppers one lower. That wouldn't be a bad idea if you want both. If you go .308, don't go any longer than 20. It isn't worth it.

Yeah, I know but I enjoy that aspect of it. Already built 3 AR15s.

And planning on keeping a .308 in 20in barrel.

On the 6.5 what do you the think? 26"?

Ya, I have a Saker 762.

I have components for both 6.5 an 308.

Just looking to doing more shooting instead of loading, only reason Im considering the 308.

My custom 260 is nice and awesome, just really dont like sitting there loading for it. When I had a custom 308 it was easy, pick up FGMM or southwest 175s and go shoot one hole.

Max 22 on a 6.5. IG Chris proved to me how even an 18 inch 6.5 is good. I would go with 22 or 20.
Edit: this is assuming you mean an AR10. On a bolt gun I would go 24 or 26. Compactness is what I find important on an AR.

Thanks for the tip on barrel length I've been considering this same upgrade on my AR. Always looking at this board for info from guys like you, Carson, Clames, and a host of others. Y'all make a good outdoor community.

Chat - the more I look the more I feel that for now a .308 will serve me best.

Now I just have to find a barrel. Looks like they're hard to come by right now.
