Are you pinning the Mod 1 to a 14.5" barrel?

hmmm, I have a router... may have to look into this
all you need to drill are the holes for the trigger?
Posted on 1/14/16 at 1:29 pm to Theboot32
No, you also have to mill out the space that the trigger assembly fits into. It's a good bit of material to remove.

No it's on a 16" bbl.

Anyone ever order something from Ozark Ordnance?? They have some 300blk ammo for less than $.50/round

There is a jig or a set of jigs that help you.
You have to be pretty precise on your cuts and depths. Should have been a little more forthcoming, you need a drill press, a router, and probably the jig.
I haven't done it so I don't know all the details.

Yep, should be good
Again, I wouldn't sight in with those rounds, I would sight in with the stuff you hunt or load your mags with, but for plinking, thats probably the best deal you will find

I'd like to hear your thoughts when you get it. The Mod 0 is shorter than the Mod 1, I wasn't looking to add any more length to my barrel.

Brownell's has this jig
It says it bolts together so you make sure your holes are lined up correctly.

Yeah I've got Barnes Vor-TX for my hunting round I'm just looking for some cheaper plinking ammo

I'll let you know how it is on Sunday

Have been reading a lot of reviews and it seems to get good marks on both flash suppression and recoil management.
Keep in mind that those goals are inherently at odds, and with sound management, too, for that matter. Generally the reduction of 1 with the brake, means an increase over an A2 of the other (which does about the best job of the bunch on flash - semi-decent on sound - I mean, it is the default - and nothing on the recoil impulse).
Generally, of course.

If only it were that easy.
Of course, you can buy a Ghostgunner, purpose built CNC machine for about $1500.

Is $1750 a good price a Daniel Defense V3 with 3-30rd mags 1-40rd mag and a vortex strike fire 2 on it?
Posted on 1/14/16 at 4:43 pm to Ace Midnight
I think I'm gonna try one of these 80% lowers. I have a drill press and router. All I'd have to buy is the jig. If I frick it I'm not out much cash.

GT - from my research a couple of years back, you want to go slow and steady and try to keep the aluminum chips out of the working area (lube, lube, lube - that's always good advice).
Unless you're an experienced machinist, it probably won't look great, but who cares what the inside looks like, right? As long as everything is cleared and smooth (smooth enough), you get a positive function check at the end, and *BANG*. You should be golden if you've done some metal working. My impression is that it is just above a beginner level job, or maybe at the upper end of beginner jobs. There are TONS of youtube videos on the process, plus all kinds of forum posts.
It's probably not worth the effort for 1 or 2. If one wanted to do a bunch over time, I suspect you would get better and faster, and acquire better tools to make it even more efficient. I ended up going with buying stripped lowers from a LGS. I figured I would have to make 12 to 15 just to recover my costs of getting whatever machinery I would want to use to do it.
There are reports of skilled folks doing this job with only a vise, jig and hand drill - so once you step up to a drill press, it should be reasonably within the scope of a handy person with some experience with a press or, ideally, a mill (because that's what you're doing - you're going to get an end mill and covert your drill press to a milling machine.)

Seems like a good price. V3s retail for $1800. Does it come with PMAGs? If so, that's only like a $60 or so value. Tell the seller to keep the Vortex, LOL at keeping a $100 optic on that rifle.
