not sure, the gun experts in here might know better about the company.

OT - what is everyones preferred plinking ammo? do you use steel cases, or just copper?

also, i might run a few hundred through and not thousands like some.

Yeah I haven't heard of that one. Don't know much about brands though. This will be my first build. Not really a build as I'm just going to buy complete upper and lowers. Can I do one for under $600?

I like the stuff that the box is cardboard colored at walmart. I can't remember the name. I want to try some PPU match for longer range for some cheap stuff.

well the question is really, do you want to go low?
- you could go as low as $500 with a PTAC; but you get what you pay for.
- you could very well assemble a PSA for around $600-$625. i got a PSA lower, but went with what i researched as a better upper with BCM.

my setup is
- PSA lower with MAGPUL furniture
- BCM upper with BCM bcg and CH. also included the BCM muzzle for free. then i added on the Magpul MOE handguard.
That together costs around $685, with all shipping and handling. My goal was to stay under $800.
I could have made it cheaper with buying cheaper parts, and i could have bought a Bushmaster for $600 assembled. But there are certain things i don't want to sacrifice in quality, and wanted to feel like i assembled it myself(even though its only a few parts to put together)

BCM upper

lower i got, out of stock though

The TN Arms lowers are rather new, maybe about a year old. I have been following them for awhile from development to release (even got one for kinda of a T&E). They have been very good about customer service and making things right if something is off, which can happen with polymer due to cooling and other factors. They are the first to add the metal inserts to the polymer lowers where generally they are known to have issues.

So with that, I would recommend a stripped lower from them, rather than the complete lower. My only reason is the commercial buffer tube they use, I would rather a mil-spec tube.

Also Frank Proctor has about 8k rounds through one of these lowers without issue.

Here is a quote from the owner on another forum I frequent:

quote:

well this is Dave.... the guy who owns Tennessee Arms Company

We had some initial issues that we are doing everything we can to fix. Rome wasnt built in a day and doing something that has never been done before is far from easy.

The reasons for having a polymer lower receiver are the exact same as the reasons for having a polymer lower on a pistol. There are significant weight savings and the material is much more resilient. There is zero reasons that the lower receiver needs to be metal. There are zero reasons for the upper receiver to be anything but metal.

The last post was about having metal reinforcement in the RE and pistol grip areas.. Its already been incorporated into our design and we have the patent filed for it. No other company will be able to run a threaded metallic insert in polymer once the patent issues. Until then we are having to suffer through having competition.

Attachment 23151

Polymer itself has some interesting properties that arent a concern when dealing with metal. The shrinkage rates vary according to the temperature of the injection material and the time of the shot. The greatest change is from the temperature of the injection mold and the cooling of the part after extracting it from the mold. That is where our initial issues were coming from. My personal rifle is the sixth one that was ever produced on our mold and everything works fine. A few dozen more into it we started seeing variation of about .02" in shrinkage variation in some places and .018" in others depending on the manufacturing process.

We have altered our mold tolerances to produce a part within mil-spec manufacturing tolerance using a predetermined process. We have our bugs worked out now. while we are constantly improving our process and product the main issues we were having have been resolved.

As for if people will accept a polymer lower industry wide is not really a concern. My concern is making a high quality part that is as tough and reliable as I can. I think I have done that. My receiver can be nearly crushed in a vice and still drop a mag free. The are also more rugged than a forged lower. They are capable of taking far more abuse and remaining within operational tolerance.

I understand the polymer lowers have gotten a bad rap... Im a shooter I get it. That wasnt my company or me. Im not going to allow a product like that to have my name on it.

If you ever have any questions, comments, or even criticism of my receivers please let me know.... I wont get butthurt..

Would this be a good price on a complete lower and is that a good make?

I have complete Aero X15 forged 7075 T6 lowers in stock for less than the polymer one you linked. Let me know if you're interested sales@sulzerfirearms.com.

I've only been doing it for a few months, mostly transfers and AR stuff. I have some regulars too that like to text me guns while shopping to see if I can special order them for a better price. Other than that I don't keep a whole lot on hand. I've mentioned my $10 transfers a few times around here when people have been looking for a place. Let me know if I can do anything for you.

Go with Propagandalf's Aero lower. Anything that has 7075 T6 aluminum is worth having. Stay away from 6061 and polymer.

Just curious if you have built out any of the Aero lowers and ran them. I have 4 (only built 2 rifles from them though) and find the magwell to be a little on the tight side. The magazine wont always drop freely. I am just wondering if maybe this was a batch issue or consistent with all of their lowers.
