New schooling for an old school duck hunter.........

about to get back into duck hunting for the first time since the mid-late 80's (lead shot days). It seems my old Browing A-5 12 gauge 2 3/4" may be outdated for todays steel shot world and my old Yentzen caller may be rotten.
any recommendations?

You shot steel shot in the 80's?

Hope you have better luck than this guy.

Beretta Xtrema 2
Or one of the new Brownings are nice.
I would definitely say you need to upgrade to smthg that'll shoot 3" and 3-1/2" shells.

People been killing ducks for a LONG time with 2 3/4''
I was reading a DU article just last weekend that said more ducks have been shot with 2 3/4'' than any other round.
If you use to shooting that Browning, I would just stick with it.
Might get a new duck call though. Alot of people like Haydel DR-85

How much are you looking to spend on your shotgun?
As to calls the Haydel DR85 and Primos Winch are great calls for the money.
In the $400 range you're looking at pumps Benelli Nova and Remington 870
In the $700 or so range the Winchester is little more that the Browning Gold with Winchester Badging.
$1000+ Browning Maxus, Benelli SBEII, Benelli Super Vinci, Beretta Extrema and the yet to be on the market the Beretta A400 (I think that's what it is)

As far as guns go: $1000-$1500 range

20+ years ago you could use lead and could kill way more ducks than you can today.
Not really a valid arguement.

You can get whatever semi-auto you want for that price.

I have the SBEII and the Super Vinci. They are both great guns that have the ability to adjust the cast and rise on the stock. I adjusted both of mine so they shoulder perfectly for me.
I wouldn't recommend one over the other but the SV is lighter.
The Maxus and the Extrema 2 are also great guns.
ETA: I like the Benelli's because they are recoil operated and not gas operated. It's cleaner, not going to say it's more reliable but cleaner.

I've been busting ducks since 1977 with my 2 3/4" Remington 870 Wingmaster. It's works fine.
