Video on the linked page is a poor commercial for it. Of course you can catch fish out of it, but how does it handle? and the only person standing up is using an H bar.

Anyone seen it in real life yet?

Oh, and the blonde in the video is quite an attractive young lady.

I read earlier someone already talked to their dealer about getting one and was quoted 1999. Not sure if they are gonna be at that price point or not. Wouldn't mind getting one for the wife if they turn out to be pretty good. If not most likely gonna get her a outback

Still have to use your hand to switch to reverse, right?

Meh. Looks like a half-hearted effort to jump in the low end peddle yak market. If it didn't say Hobie, I don't think anyone would give it a 2nd look. That said, the mirage drive is more reliable than other competing boats like perception or wildy. The layout of the Compass does nothing for me.

Yup.

You didn't mention Native. Perception is Wildy. I'd much rather have hands free reverse than reliability.

I just meant low-end (price wise) peddle yaks and the first 2 that came to mind was the pecador pro pilot and the wildy radar with the Helix drive. At $2,600 I would not put the slayer in the low-end price marker.

As the bargain Hobie they don't include the 180 drive. I like the layout but including the old style forward only drive is pretyy lame.

Who cares about reverse in a kayak? That's what a paddle is for
