If you go with a cheap set, I like the Wilsons my brother has. That being said, I have some titlest I got for $100. Just dont buy blades to start out. Go with over sized. Much more forgiving.

Buy a $100 set from Academy
i've been playing years with a $150 set of clubs and I do fine with them. I added in a new driver, some fairway woods, wedges, putter as I got better. buying a set of irons at this point would just be a waste. The ones I have do fine.
From someone who has worked in the industry most my life, and who has dealt in merchandise, you can't be further from the truth.
Just because it is name brand doesn't put it in an exclusive category. Many top brands make "beginners clubs", many of which aren't marketed all the time, making them lesser known. Buying a use set of top brand clubs would be the way to go here, but there are many factors that one must consider:
Swing speed
Lie
Swing Type
Preferred ball flight
Shafts
Type of ball used
Etc
The cheap arse brands they sell at academy and other sporting good stores are like cars. A higher end car, even when used, will run better. You start out with a basic Ford Taurus and work your way up to a Ferrari in terms of speed, engine size, price, and additions. Buying a $100 set from Academy is like buying a lemon. Again, still a car, but will get you no where.
Though they are both cars, one will preform better and last longer, with less maintenance. The OP will get no where with a $100 set, and will be buying $100 sets for the rest of his life.

Is that the same as having less than a dozen spinner baits of each color?
Posted on 12/3/12 at 2:38 pm to Nodust
MUCH worse. More similar to it being February and only having one red spinnerbait.
