Is a drop shot essentially the same thing as a Carolina rig?

No! A drop shot is normally fished vertically and the weight is on the bottom allowing the hook and bait to be about a foot above that. Carlolina rig the weight is in front and both drag the bottom.

No, drop shot suspends, think vertical fishiing. C-rig just trails the weight.

you don't necessarily have to fish it vertically, you can play with "leader" lengths and cast it, drag it, shake it, while working it back to the boat

there's areas in the spillway that you can get into with a bass boat when the water's coming up that you can't normally (with other than a jump boat or godevil) hefty stringers to be caught when that happens, i'm kinda lookin forward to it

there used to be an ad in Louisiana Sportsman for some cabins for rent right by the lake...haven't be able to find anything about them recently

need to learn alot of new water. we sold our boat right before katrina and just got one right at the end of summer so my dad knows zero spots so i gotta do the dirty work in the delacroix/reggio/shell beach area

and also find some spots in the yak
