Need four new Group 27 batteries. Haven't had to buy any in years so looking for recommendations on brand and where you bought them.

I buy mine at SAMS. They say COSTCO sales interstates, if you have one near you.

Sams was on my list just never really looked at their automotive section. Did you bring in the old ones for cores?

Also depending on the type of big motor you have, some of the larger motors have a pretty small list of batteries that meet the specs for cranking amps needed.

Probably just going back with normal lead acid deep cycle as the ones that came with the boat are of that type and are around 6 years old. Just trying to tie up a few loose ends before the 9 day snapper season. Going to make a wreck anchor this week too.

ETA: Motors are 175 suzuki four strokes. I think they require minimum of 665 cold cranking amps. Each engine has two batteries in parallel.

Sams group 27 is $79. WalMart sells a group 29 which is a little bigger around group 31 physical size for $86.

If you do go to WalMart look to see if the battery is made by Johnson Controls. They seem to have better quality control than the other makers.

I fished offshore for 30+ years and several have asked the same question to me. My answer when fishing offshore your life may depend on your batteries successfully starting your engines.

Don't go cheap.

Cabela's AGM for $145, but my F250 has some pretty tough specs:

AGM

for traditional, I'd go Interstate
