I could offer a ton of excuses but this buck is beginning to piss me off. Stayed at 50 yards multiple times during early bow.

Got a reprieve when I missed him with a muzzleloader, scope had been knocked off by two feet mysteriously. Was dead on when I killed 2 does in 5 minutes 2 weeks earlier.

Has dodged me by 15 minutes at least 7 times.

Tonight comes in with a group of 5 other bucks, I draw back and then he changes his route so all I have is a hard quartering to shot. Stayed drawn back for over 2 minutes. Turns to slight quartering to and I just pulled the shot. Pretty disgusted right now.

To make matters worse he stopped again at 30 but I didnt shoot because he looked like he might or the bigger 8 come back in. Of course they all then hung out at 60 yards for the next 40 minutes.

Not only did I finally manage to connect with him I was able to fulfill a bucket list hunt and do it in the snow. Came in with 5 other bucks and didn't think I would be able to pull off a shot with all of them within 20 yards. Finally gave me a quartering away shot when enough heads were down and managed to stick between the 4th and 5th ribs from the back but a little too high.

Shooting NAP spitfires and one of the blades broke on the rib. Managed to destroy one lung but only clipped the other. Arrow plugged the hole so without snow I never would have found him. Would find spots like this every 40-80 yards or so. Only thing in between would be a single pinhead size drop every 10 yards or so.

He ran 600 yards, over half though shin deep water with small islands of snow. Toughest track of my life. Son of a bitch managed to run to a point where every direction was nearly a mile to the road. Back to my vehicle ended up being 1.2 miles.

Not my biggest by a long shot but I don't think I've ever had a more fulfilling hunt. Finally killed him 3 stand locations and 1.5 miles from the first time I missed him. Hell of a way to end the season.

Taking off at noon today to go back. They never spooked and its 30 degrees with a perfect wind. Big question is if they all show up again should I go after the older better scoring deer that is with him or should I try to finish this guy off. Almost feel like its getting personal.

What was that shot angle? Did you shoot at him head on"?

2 minutes is a little long to hold and be accurate. We can all hold it for 2 minutes but being accurate is another thing.

It'll turn out to be a very memorable hunt when you finally get him.

Very slight quartering to, almost broadside. Best I can figure is I lifted my head and didnt get back to a good anchor. Pulled the shot way left.

Yeah, plenty of good deer but if you dont bow hunt you're screwed.

Yeah Alicia/Egypt area, think Jonesboro. Nothing but rice and beans for miles. Had an unexpected 3 inches of snow that I had to take advantage of, we normally get ice not snow. Was cool being able to see the group coming from 100 yards out though the thick stuff.

I hope to age and score him this week. He wasn't the biggest of the group but it had kind of gotten personal. Really looking forward to seeing what this farm can produce next year.
