Need info on boat launches on the Mississippi River around the Luling area.

Hey guys,
I have been watching a bunch of catfishing videos and I really want to head out on the Miss. River to fish for big catfish. I have experience on the river but only around the St. Francisville/Port Hudson area of the river. I have never fished below Baton Rouge and I know nothing about launches in this area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Google shows two launches, one Belle CHase Marine in Kenner and Spillway Boat Launch in Norco. Are these two the only access to the river?

Did you move to that area? There's plenty of big cats in the st Francisville area if not. Good luck, I got in to it a couple of months ago and it's addictive.

Definitely wanting to do this too I joined ms river cat fishing page on fb and I’m getting the itch to try it. Just have no idea how to fish a river that big.

I moved down to Cut Off La. in 2006. My wife was born and raised in South Lafourche so we have some family down here. I know there are good cats around St. Francisville, I caught plenty that were 50# plus on trotlines and enough 10-20 pounders on rod and reel. What I am wanting to do is find a good spot or two and then fish with big baits kinda like shark fishing but for monster cats. My biggest blue cat on rod and reel is only 30lbs but I never really fished for big fish exclusively if they happened to bite then they bit LOL

neither of those launches provide access to the river
they only provide access to lake ponchartrain
as far as i know there are no launches anywhere that provide access to the river between new orleans and reserve

The spillway has one. If you goto google maps and look down river right below the spillway you can see a concrete launch. I have seen a few boats get launched there. Would be a good idea If you have 4x4. From there just go fish below all of the grain docks and watch out for the fleet boats. There is another launch just south of geismar that’s pretty steep as well. The traffic up there is a little less and would probably be better.

Belle chasse marine is a commercial launch service. They take pilots and supplies to and from ships. Can’t launch your personal boat there

I kinda figured it was a commercial operation just from the description. When I was running the river back in the day it was in a little 14 ft. bateau with an old pos 25 Evinrude and I could pretty much drop it in very easily. Now that I am older and hopefully wiser, I will be launching an 18.5 ft bay boat with a 150 yammy on the back. Much safer and much more comfortable.

We launch off of the revetments North of Donaldsonville on the East Bank. Can launch your boat with ease.

We use the spillway boat ramp to launch boats into the river frequently, that's going to be your best option near Luling.
