Love that. I would be concerned about heat, though. Have you had any issues?

Littling there little by little. Dam heat is taking it's toll on me.
Front porch, I have the joist down and as of today, all the post up.

After that, I had to resaw some beams. I had sawed them at 6.5"x 6.5". Reason, just in case they would go wild. Sure as shite, one did. Had a hook of about 3/8". No biggie, I needed them at 5.5".

So nice not having to push the saw head. Tim Allen said, "More Power".
Those beams are 14'6" long and out of oak. Very heavy and I think I screwed the pooch again.
Anyway, moved them under the carport with a big fan blowing, I lay them out, then painted the saw cuts. That helps the beam from checking(crack).

Just maybe I will get them installed tomorrow. JB and coke will have a saying in that tonight.

Finished the baby crib today and expecting baby girl later this week or next. Only thing left is to find a way to cover the bolt heads that stick out.

Also built a changing table for her.

Can anyone tell me where to get a piece of either reclaimed or sinker cypress around Baton Rouge? I need a piece 6 feet long by 24 inches tall to mount some backlit letters to.

Not sure about BR, but in Ponchatoula there is Acadian Cypress. They will have what you need.

I wonder if you are who I emailed last night. Do you have an ad on Craigslist? Location was near new roads for the fella I messaged.

This is a work in progress, a while back I got a camper shell from an OBer(yellowfin
) and had been taking it off/on the truck for trips and slept in it a few times for kayak trips. I decided to build a roof rack for it to put both kayaks up top and keep the bed space open for gear or to sleep in when it's cooler. Prior to starting this I had about 30 minutes of tig welding experience, so this is a learning project as well. I'm an amateur welder and a professional grinder.
In the coming days I'll be sorting out how to mount it, adding rollers on the rear, eventually it'll get powdercoated.

Sorry no actual plans for this exact crib. I googled a bunch of crib plans online, and used those as a guide. I couldn't find a good plan for a 3-in-1 convertible crib, so I just winged it.
Farmhouse Crib
very basic wood crib
Download Issue 173 for free plans of a convertible crib
Eventually I'm going to sit down and calculate how much I spent on it and draw up some plans, which I'll post later.

Yeah, i'm assuming i can buy one cheaper than i can build it. But what fun is that?

Very nice. Here's a couple of pics of a bench i made from antique pine burn pile pieces:

Had an idea for a new horizontal gun cabinet. They were getting rid of old furniture at work so i decided to refurbish this cabinet:
It was actually 2 separate cabinets held together by the top. I removed the top, fastened them together, and removed the middle section. Then I built a shelf and gun rests. Next I built a top out of oak.
Cool thing about the top is that I wanted easy access to the guns on top if need be. I added 2 soft close drawer sliders and here's how it works:
Sanded down, stained and added felt.
In use:

But this is by far the coolest thing I have built. My mom has had 2 old diner stools for as long as I can remember from her grandmother's diner in Lewisburg. They sat outside and rusted over the years. They were in extremely bad shape:
Sandblasted and painted those bad boys:
Build seats out of pallet wood and put about 87,000 coats of spar varnish. Fastened them in place with anchors and bolts in cement on back patio. Couldn't be happier with the finish:
