Simple as that. Looking for options and recommendations.
A couple of dealings with my local shop leave me to believe they care about the sale only.
***Drove to BR for the ball game today. Emailed Ken at Gotham Archery earlier in the week. Even through they are currently closed for the off season (Feb 1 to May 30; only open for group outings, bday parties, etc) he still agreed to help me out. He is big on the service and not so much on the sale. He spent an hr with me when he didn't have to. Has two locations in New York also. He went beyond my expectations. Needless to say, he's earned me and my future business, even if it is a good drive.

I've heard good things about Chag's in Metairie. I plan to go get fitted for a new bow later this year by Sammy.

American Hunter in Covington. Ronnie will work on anything you bring in the shop.

We only have one nearby. Hoot-n-Holler archery in Bossier. It's better than Bass Pro, which is basically my only other option.

Depends where you are I guess. American Hunter for the northshore. Chag’a for south shore. I always used Spillway Sportsman when I lived in BR. Bowie was terrible.

Archery and fishing unlimited was good to deal with when I bought my bow. He set everything up and was helpful after the sale.

The new Gotham place in central has been pretty nice the two times I’ve been.
Good people

Outdoor express in Boutte is worlds better than Chags. The old man in there has 40+ years experience with every kind of bow. They offer free range passes with any work they do . None from my personal experiences ( because I don’t go there) but I’ve heard bad things about Chags . One being a friend brought a bow in the be restrung the guy working the press broke the limb. They wouldn’t do anything about it then later said it had to be broken before he brought it in. Another story I heard was a friend dropped off a dozen arrows to be refletched when he went to pick them up they were charging $120. $10s an arrow but also that’s his fault for not discussing a price when he dropped them off

Thanks for the recs. I'm in Cenla but don't mind driving somewhere on a Saturday.
Long story short, have bought 3 bows from my local shop. I have a working business relationship with them. Just bought a Traverse from them. Had some things I had questions about that I didn't like while picking it up the other day and he just kinda kept blowing me off.

I'm always careful with second hand info. I know Chag's bowtech Sammy pretty well and he's a stand up guy. Really good bowtech too. Not saying the guy in Boutte isn't great either but I have no experience.

Can't speak on behalf of the first part of your post, but last time I was in Chag's they had a sign at the bow counter clearly stating prices for various services.
