Nails in tires, not leaking

Rotating my tires today and the first two I take off each have small nails in them. They are not leaking at all. Leave them or remove and plug? Cooper Discovery A/T’s 275/55/20 on 2018 F150 for reference. Probably got 20-30k more tread on them.
Rotating cause they feel a little cupped on the front and the road noise has increased a bit. Doing a rear cross to hopefully even them out.
Thanks

Pull them and check air pressure in a few hours. I've had tires with nails that didn't leak. Eventually, the nail came out and the tire went flat.

Nails probably weren't long enough to go through the whole tire.

Personally, I pull them and plug them if I see a nail in the tire. You may get lucky and the nail is not long enough to penetrate all the way through. I've had that happen a couple times with small screws and there was no need for a plug.
You know when they will eventually go flat------when you've got good clothes on and heading out somewhere only to walk out on a flat.

Yet.
Tires aren't leaking yet.
Hopefully like others said that the nail isn't long enough. Won't chance it though.
Pull the nails and make sure it isn't leaking.

Pull them out.
Mix some dishwashing liquid soap in spray bottle of water.
If no bubbles, check air pressure every day for a few days.
If it holds, you are good to go

This and check it everyday.
Still get a tire patch kit too

I've had a bunch of nails in tires that i left and didn't have problems, but I've also plugged a tire that I've lost the plug on while driving on Hwy 90. Plugs work, but a patch is the better fix. Depending on where you get your tires from, you should have warranty and they will fix your tires. I used to do all my own rotations. With this new set of tires, I plan to let Sam's Club rotate and fix any nails. I'll plug if I need to, but I'll leave the heavy lifting to them. Btw I had Cooper's previously too.

I had a self tapping screw in a tire once. I refused to pull it until I had time to get it fixed. Turned out it was one of the super short screws and was barely in the tread. What a waste of stress.

Take them for repair. Patch not plug.

If the plug fails you won’t get any tire store to patch it, found this out after Laura.

Whatever you do, don't go to a tire shop. The nails are probably too close to the side wall and can't be fixed. New tires are needed.

Sams club will void warranty on plugged tires.

Good to know. Thanks for the heads up

I started fixing flats in a Shell station on Veterans Highway Metairie when I was 16 and then an Esso (Exxon).
We did hot patches and did plugs.
I still plug tires. I am 72 and have NEVER had a plug fail. Just sayin

I have a car that has tires smaller in the front than the rear tires.
You can’t carry two spares.
There is a plugging kit in the trunk.
The tires are over $500. each
If I have a flat in the middle of nowhere, the tire will be plugged.

71 here and that is exactly my experience with plugs. I've never had one fail and I've probably used dozens of them over the years, especially after Katrina coming in and out of N.O. to get my house back into "move in" condition. You couldn't help but pick up the occasional nail or screw just driving down the streets.

I’ve plugged tires ever since I worked in my dad’s shop as a 12 yo too. I was surprised that the plug failed too. I’m 41 and he makes 70 this year. He doesn’t do tire repairs any more and will farm them out to repair shops for patches. Could be that he is just getting lazy since he picks and chooses which jobs he still takes on or that the patch is the superior option. There’s got to be a reason BMW will only patch tired and not plug them.
To reach their own though. I just figure that with tire warranties now, you might as well use the service if it’s offered. I go to Sam’s once a week or every other week so it’s not as much of an inconvenience.
