Mayan 2012 prediction... or gas leak.

I would be concerned about the sinking lake possibility.

Press Release #6.C - Correction
Wednesday, July 18, 2012
4:00 p.m.

For Immediate Release

Gas Bubbles in the Bayou Corne/Grand Bayou Areas
Bubbling continues to be monitored in the waterways in the Bayou Corne and Grand Bayou areas. Still there has been no confirmed source of the gas. Investigations are still continuing.

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have been in the community since Saturday, July 14, 2012. A representative is available at the command post from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. daily. DEQ is currently within the Bayou Corne Community doing air monitoring at the homes previously authorized by individual residents.

The 62nd Civil Support Team (CST) pulled GAS samples, NOT WATER SAMPLES on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 to validate samples that have already been pulled. Results are currently pending.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) is encouraging all residents to report any and all tremors felt in the community. These reports should be called into the OEP office until a link on the parish website is available.

If anyone has information on bubbling locations or about a potential origin of the gas, please contact the Assumption Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness at (985) 369-7386.

The bubbles have become a large sinkhole. Here's the Sinkhole Forms in Bayou Corne Area that I posted on the OT Lounge.

Still waiting on pics and more information. I think this points to a failure in the storage dome down there, which has subsequently collapsed (reminiscent of Lake Peigneur as some have mentioned)
