I've always wondered why there was only a small amount of crap footage of this incredible event happening. :dunno:

I don't care if I ever use resin and fiberglass sheets again. This shite sucks.
I was going to say that earlier, but I didn't want to discourage you, haha.
What "weight" fiberglass are you using and where did you get it from?
I know the stuff I used was 6oz (I think) woven tape from West Marine.
Oh yeah, looks good.

Haha no definitely not me. Looking at more videos of this gun it seems lots of douches are paying for it.
I also inevitably came across this. LINK
The top comment is great.

Looks like this guy >> :dude: is having a great time with his zombie-blaster while actually doing what it's intended for! I just don't think I'd shell out 360$ for that. I'd pay for the grip accessory maybe but not for an entire gun.
I definitely wouldn't be shooting into trees. Maybe some watermelons, an old TV, or flocks of blackbirds or something.

Diesel has lots of torque. Also check the weights. Diesels will be heavier. And I'm not sure if I would want to pull start a diesel.
I did, the 6.7hp diesel Kohler weighs 150lb. while a 7hp Robin Subaru weighs 35lb.

Yeah I guess I did pick a pretty bad comparison by showing the Harbor Freight clone.
Also yes, after comparing to even a Subaru Robin 7 hp (EX21), the torque on the diesel is still higher. The Subaru (7hp) had a max torque of 10.26ft-lb, where the Kohler (6.7hp) shows 12.2ft-lb. I would also imagine the Kohler would hold this torque at a much much lower RPM and ultimately increase the longevity of the unit.
I guess it has it's uses. (generators, stationary applications, etc.)

Small Gasoline vs. Diesel Engines?
Posted by ISWYDT on 12/14/11 at 1:08 pm
So I came across this website selling small diesel engines, and they are extremely expensive! This Kohler 6.7hp Diesel is a cool 1600$ while you can go to Harbor Freight and pick up a gasoline 6.5 hp for 150$.
Diesel
Gasoline
Why such an extreme price difference? I'm pretty diesel-illiterate, but does it have to do with the fuel-delivery system?
Also, the Diesel weighs in at 150 lb. vs 36 lb. for gasoline!

How are the gaskets looking on the carburetor? A lot of times an air leak (bad seal) with an old gasket will cause it to idle fast. This is just general small engine knowledge, I know nothing specifically about the Vanguard 20hp.

Looks good, are you going to fiberglass the whole thing or just the seams? Also, did you do a butt joint to add those sheets together? Looking at this makes me want to build another pirogue, but bigger this time.
One thing is for sure, make sure to get the edges extremely smooth and rounded for the fiberglass, or you'll have a tough time keeping air bubbles from forming under your fiberglass tape.

Best Milkshake in BR?

I'm craving a really good milkshake. Where can I get the best milkshake in Baton Rouge on a Sunday?
If it has hamburgers, that's a plus
TIA

Anyone ever built one? I just read some plans and it seems pretty easy. Just not sure how much all the stuff costs. Epoxy, glues, paint, etc...Anyone?
It is very doable with pretty simple tools. I built a very small one last year. I was looking to spend less than 75-100$ total, and ended up putting about 175 into it. Most of that was spent on epoxy and fiberglass tape. It still floats today, but my only regret is not making it wider. I had to make "outriggers" for it afterwards to add stability. I only use it now to retrieve wood ducks from a deep slough.
PS: It will weigh MUCH more than a kayak.

Just looked up some ice fishing videos. I've noticed these guys really love to keep the camera rolling for a super long time just for one fish.

mmm... I'm not sure how I feel about this gun. It really has nothing in common with the old Auto-5. The recoil system (and other features) are pretty much the same as in the Benelli Super Black Eagle II, which, IMO is kind of rough. There's just something about the rotating bolt that makes me dislike it. Also can't shoot 3 1/2" magnums (not that it's totally necessary, but it is a lacking option).
I'll stick with my Browning Gold or my grandpa's old Auto-5!

This is also my first attempt...I know it's a little blurry around the collar line, but I had this idea and had to share it

I'm a big fan of Mr. B's. Good atmosphere and excellent food.
