WWI, WWII, and Vietnam veterans make us look like a bunch of pussies.

To your grandpa... Cheers.

Lemme know when you want me to post my email so we can set up the transaction. Also, who do I make this $1000 check out to?

FIFY Bap. My Dad saw action as a Marine Sgt in the Korean conflict.

Dad rarely talks about it though, real men don't.

Fantastic gun and history.

THIS is what Colt has the other 1911 manufacturers don't.

My other Grandfather (maternal) indicated that friggin' Korea was more intense than WWII in Europe...he did both of 'em.

We got drones yo.

No disrespect for those earlier heros, but today's armed forces would wipe the floor with earlier incarnations simply due to fantastic advances in technology.

I'd have to disagree with that.

A more accurate statement would be...

Today's armed forces' technology would wipe the floor with earlier incarnations

Take today's average x-box recruit and put them up against the previous generation with the same technology...well, I know where I'd put my money.

Might be a good reason why he rarely talks about it.

Just last week, I took my dad to Middendorf's(his favorite place) for his 83rd birthday. We got to talking about my BIL who always pimps him for info on his time in Korea. My Dad, who makes Norman Vincent Peale look pessimistic, gets really negative when anyone asks him about Korea. He just doesn't talk about it.

Point taken, but you could probably say that about any army from different eras throughout history.

Going all the way back to the War Between the States, some of those guys endured hardships beyond even WWI or II servicemen. Times change.

A gun dealer once offered me $350 for it because it was old, chromed (not original condition), and not pretty looking...

And I was like..
