Last fall I was fishing a canal along a marsh and saw a big the tail flip out of the corner of my eye so I cast right in front of it and hooked about a 5 foot gar. I didn't realize it was a gar until I got it right up to the boat and the head flipped right in front of me. I decided not to mess with it so I cut it loose. I told a couple people and have never caught so much grief in my life. Next time I hook one I'm going to drag that prehistoric looking beast into the boat and eat it on the spot just to get my fishing cred back.

Yes. I have seen quite a few big arse gar about half the lenght of our 15' boat. I'm sorry if you don't believe me. I live on a bayou. I'm always fishing the river, and backwaters. You'd be amazed at the big fish I've seen caught around these parts, sir.

I'm sorry.. I apologize for my mistake.. I said it was caught. It was "shot with a bow" in the same bayou I live on. I've also swam in that water before.
