Anyone here use one of these? If so, how do you like it?

Been thinking about getting one.

The back cross member on my trailer is too far under the boat to use a transom saver.

It's a great argument on places like thehulltruth.

Which is worse?

Allowing the weight of a bouncing outboard to put pressure on your transom while trailering? (seems to me that's what you're doing with a device like the motormate)

or

Allowing the vibration of your trailer to pass through a transom saver and into your outboard?

or

Is the bouncing weight any worse or even comparable to the force that is applied to the transom while the outboard is underway on the water?

I don't know the answer. My preferred solution is a transom saver with the built in spring to allow some absorbtion of the trailer shock.

How big of motor are we talking, and how far do you usually trailer?

ETA: The Motormate would at least serve the purpose of getting the weight off of your tilt/trim.

I have a 225 sho and I am currently using the pro-rule that came with it. The problem is that to get it on and off I have to trim the motor really high which puts a crimp on the hoses. The tube that the hoses are in separated because of the extreme angle. The motormate looks like you don’t have to go nearly as high.

Makes sense.

Just looked at the ProRule. I guess they're both the same technology right?

Have you ruled out a traditional transom saver? (Or a modified one with built-in spring?)

Either way, you might use a ruler to see how far you will have to tilt before you buy it.

and ETA:

you can cut the transom saver to your desired length.

The motormate hits the outboard well below where the pro-rule does. I have had regular transom savers with the spring on my old boat. Not a huge fan of that.

For anyone with crossmember that is too far under trailer, I ordered an ExtremeMax Transom saver off of Amazon. Works well to solve the problem
