The news articles reporting the found body make it seem like the others in the boat just continued on after he jumped out and called 911.

I would hope they turned around to try to find him??????

What I got out of it was that he jumped out, they saw him, and waited for the cops to get there because they couldnt find him. It is pretty easy to see where someone goes into the water, especially if it is as shallow as implied

Sorry for the loss of y'alls friend. I was out on Lake Maurepas the other weekend with another TD poster and I ain't gonna lie,ole boy saved me twice from going overboard twice, and I WAS DRIVING, when my boat took some 3'ers from the side.

Scared the shite out of me and now I wear my lanyard.

Please don't take this pic as some sort of insensitive remark towards your friend but I'm sure it may have looked something like this.

well he just jumped out of a perfectly good boat so it probably didnt look exactly like that. Ive seen people jump out of moving boats before and I will never understand why someone would do it. Water is like concrete when moving fast

Hate it for any you who are friends and his family/girlfriend. Loss is tough no matter what, but when it was avoidable it just seems worse.

this is what i was wondering, do they think he hit the bottom or got knocked unconscious by the water? wasn't sure if it was close to the sandbar or out in the lake

It is a good time to remember LDWF, the police and Coast Guard that patrol those waters and try to keep people safe. I know it is a pain when they pull an experienced boater over for a safety check but there are also lots of boaters that have not grown up on the water and just don’t understand that driving a boat is not the same as driving a car. Their actions and their presence does safe lives. I can't imagine these waters not being the most heavily boated in the state and we always see 3-4 deaths a year in the area and most are preventable...

If he hit the water hard and knocked the air from his lungs, he might have sunk and prevented anyone from finding him...

That was my husband the one that ran into the wild life fisheries boat. Pretty banged up lesson to be learned don't drink & drive what ever kind of water craft the outcome of it has not nice. He is lucky to be alive. Thanks Randy Lanoux for turning the boat. Thanks to all the EMS, livingston parish police & the people who saw the accident on their camp for all you help

I wasn't referring to him and his family specifically, but boaters in general...

Prayers sent. Definately sad to see, since I was about 2 I have not missed many weekends being on the water, and I can say even experienced people do stupid shite at times (especially when alcohol is involved). Some are just luckier than others.

Prayers to him and his family.

I have a friend that did the same exact thing coming back from Lake Bash one year. He popped right up though. I'm gonna send him this article to show him how stupid he is.

I wish everybody that ever plans on getting in a boat could learn from this. Lord knows I have done some stupid stuff but He has granted me the grace to pull through my moments of poor judgement.

Same here. This is a real tragedy. His family are good folks and my heart goes out to them.
