Took wife, 14 yo, 12 yo and me to the woods yesterday.

14 yo guided mom, she had never killed a deer

12 yo w me, he has never killed a buck

Settled in stand. It began pouring. I hadnt even looked at weather

Trying to keep spirits up I said that I was certain that if rain lifted we would see deer move around 5 on our family text thread.

Rain stopped around 4:45.

My son looked at the time at 4:59 and said that I was wrong. While he was talking to me a doe stepped out, he was wanting to kill a buck but we really are short meat. I told him either he shoots it or I do. He did.

While we are talking the 14 yo texts, “we boutta shoot”.

12 yo shoots and hit the deer perfect. The shot was still echoing when mom shot. 14 yo says, Mom may have missed. I decide to get down and grab our doe and head their way. While I’m dragging the doe to the road I get a text of a pic of the biggest fattest doe I’ve seen in a while.

Both hit perfect. I was proud. Good news: wife is hooked, so sky’s the limit on hunting expenses now.

Bad news: wife is hooked, but I like her pretty well, and she is 10 times the better light holder for skinning

Wife asked how I knew they would move at 5. She still thinks I had a secret even though I told her I pulled it outta thin air.
