Marine Speaker Advice...

Im looking to replace/upgrade. Currently I just have the small 3.5 inch square West Marine brand speakers that are mounted to the stainless rail on either side of my center console. Im looking for recommendations for something that may produce better sound as these distort at higher volume, but also looking for rail mount type because I do not want to cut holes in the console. My receiver is a basic marine setup, not sure of wattage, etc. No amp or anything, I'm not looking to put on a concert for the entire lake, just quality sound when riding/fishing/or swimming by boat when anchored at the lake. TIA

is this for a boat that stays covered most of the year? or is this for an offshore boat that is subjected to salt spray....
for either one i would go with the cheapest speakers you can get off amazon. Ive don that with our Offshore boat and im on season 2. spend about 150 for 4 speakers. I would gladly do that every year if i needed to rather than paying 1k of 4 speakers and them last the same amount of time.

Two UE Boom speakers that will pair easily in the app.
+
Ram mount claw and camera stud. It will screw directly into the speaker.

Instead of wiring speakers, I just bought the portable bluetooth Sony. It's waterproof, and plenty loud to hear even with the boat running at 45 mph.

JBL Flip 3
I just got this bad boy about a month ago, and I'm impressed with the sound quality, and how loud it goes. The bluetooth doesn't go through walls very well, but other than that, its been great.

Alpine makes some good marine speakers.

I put 2 wetsounds soundbars in my last boat. One front and one aft. Those 2 things are dam loud. Was about a grand for both, but quality and sound were worth it to me. Had them on for 2 years before I sold boat and they got hosed down after every trip when washing down the boat... Awesome quality.

I agree with most here. Just spend a $100-150 and get a quality bluetooth speaker. I have a JBL Flip and I can hear it while running and its plenty loud enough while fishing or hanging out.

I do have a Bose portable bluetooth speaker, not waterproof, but it could be as loud, just have never tried it on the water. I like the idea of the portable speaker not using the boat battery, but think something would be better mounted versus bouncing around on the console.

We use a waterproof bluetooth speaker.
Bungee it to wherever we want it on the boat.

Hard to beat wetsound if you don’t mind the price. I along with other friends have ran them for years with no issues.

Another recommendation for wetsound
Sound is incredible and they hold up well
Hand fusion systems and wetsound is much higher quality

Also if sound is distorting at higher volume the problem may not be your speakers but that you need an amp for clear audio at those volumes

Sound stream
I had good luck with these cheap and sound good I had them on a marine JL amp

Why would anyone want speakers on a boat?

JL Marine. Expensive, but great quality.
