Mallard Hybrid

[/url][/img]This is a Mallard x Gadwall hybrid that is going on the wall. Search says that it is referred to as a Brewer’s Duck.

The green on the wing is strange because neither the mallard nor the gray have that. But according to some posts, it is a definitive characteristic of a Brewer’s Duck.

Was taken this weekend near El Campo, TX

Love seeing all the different hybrids that people run into.

Looking at the head and neck, it Almost looks like a widgeon/gadwall hybrid. I know it’s not, just looks like that. Cool looking duck.

That’s a Brewer’s duck for sure. Cool bird. The one Clyde posted a couple weeks ago was not near that defined. I’m sticking with his being a Gadwidgeon.
