Ok I went through this and if you use a trolling motor on it you better have it registered. I said it was homemade and older than like 97 then you didnt have to have a receipt. Good luck

You have to have a throwable even without a TM. Trust me, I got a nice $80 reminder for that one.

Yup. Ask Gaston. He got shite for not having one on his glorified surf board.

The WLF guys must have been laughing after your buddy got off the phone with them. I know I sure laughed after reading the OP. Thought it was the joke of the day.

I have never, in all of my 28 years, heard of someone registering a pirouge. We got pulled over on the river in Covington for doing donuts in a canoe with a 5.5 on it. WLF said we just couldnt go around doing donuts in the middle f the river. No LJs, whistles, or registration was brought up.

Speaking of that, would you have to have throwables, LJs, whistle, and registration if you registered your boat and had numbers on the side of it?

Tell your buddy to quit being a puss and just do it. The ticket will probably cost as much as the registration. Stupid kids.

THANK YOU VOICE OF REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone posting in here that you better get it registered.

Where are you guys boating???

The agents in my area would just laugh and move along at a pirogue and a trolling motor.

I've been in and out and around the water about once a week since I was 13 and only got stopped twice, neither time they ran the numbers.

So, a little help? What do you do if you don't have a title and need to get it registered?

I just told you what is needed in my other post, provided the boat has not been previously registered.

I'm on my phone so I'm not reposting, when I get home I'll email you if you need more information.

If you submit just that, it might get kicked back and you get told to provide some sort of proof of ownership, which is what your dad would have to do provided the boat has not been registered before...see my previous post

You DO NOT need a type IV PFD (throwable) in your boat unless it is 16 ft - 26ft, you DO however still need a PFD in your boat for each person. Motor or not.doesn't matter.

Eta typo
