Don't like taurus. Cheap guns, but if I were on a budget, they will get the job done. I'll never ridicule someone on their choice of weapon.

Only curious, never handeled one, price was was cheaper than I expected online. Contemplating a 1911, just starting to look, don't really even have a budget yet. Thanks for the heads up though.

No problem, if you wanna go cheap. And when I say cheap 550-700 range I would get a metro arms American classic.

Look at the Springfield Range Officer for something under the cost of the big three: Colt. Kimber. Les Baer.

What?

Those three couldn't be any more different when it comes to manufacturing 1911's

I saw that your price point was up to 2k. There's no need to spend that much and with what you want I recommend this one. Custom Covert II

King Ranch has spoken...

LOVE my Kimber Pro Carry. The ONLY negative for me is the little tool needed for takedown. I am fairly ignorant and that tool may be needed for many 1911's, I just don't care for needing a tool to field strip any weapon.

Having said that, when I buy another 1911, it will probably be a Kimber.

I have Kimber Custom Crimson carry II
The colt slide feels a little Mickey Mouse to me. Wilson Combat is a very nice gun...but very pricey as well. Ruger makes nice gun for the price.

That's a good one to start with if you want to add some sort of light source. It already has the integrated rail.

I would agree they have some really good looking ones in their lineup. I guess if you want a conversation piece this is perfect but if you are buying a protection piece I think they do leave a little to be desired.
