Looking at a Kubota B2301 and John Deere 1025R

Probably going to finance a new one since rates are 0% for 60-84 months with insurance and attachments included.

We are in Mandeville and do renovation projects/flip a few houses and occasionally have the need to remove underbrush and old landscaping as well as grading out those areas.

After we just shelled out over 3k for a skid steer rental to basically sit half the time with all the rain/storm, and still more rental time to come....I started looking into just purchasing a small piece of equipment to have when needed without worrying about time frames.

I went to the local dealers in Covington for both manufacturers and was very happy with both!

Main requirements:
has a bucket, can grade yards for sod, can move sand/dirt, pull out bushes and small sapling, can dump into my dump trailer, does not tear up yards too bad.

Any suggestions or pros/cons?

As a tractor owner and a Cat construction equipment salesman, I say get a used skid steer. Working around houses with a tractor is a big chore due to the turning radius. Also, manipulating attachments will be much easier with the ability to zero turn. Get an older skid or CTL for around $25k and I promise you’ll be happier if this is your use case

My contractor bought a brand new kubota to do the same thing and quickly sold it, then bought a skid steer. I Agree with the above poster

As said before, get a skid steer. There is a reason you don't see companies like yours with tractors.

I bought my tractor from Evergreen and don't recommend them. Super nice before they took my money and not great since then. Their customer service is not very good and their prices are super high.

I've thought about trading it in for a green one since they are practically next door. But I really like my tractor and the JD right to work stuff has me turned off of the brand in general.

The JD dealer in Covington sells skid steers, Evergreen does not handle heavy equipment of any kind last I saw.

I use the kubota dealer in Hammond when I need something. Much better staff and much better pricing.

There is a big bobcat dealer off the interstate if you're looking at skid steers in the area.

The best subcompact is the Massey Ferguson GC1723 and GC1725M. They invest a lot into it because that is there most popular tractor. The John Deere’s are all plastic and the Kubota has no lift capacity.

Also hard to beat the Yanmar 223 for $16,500 with 10 year warranty.

I like the skid steers, but not looking to spend a fortune and I may only use it 3-5 times a year on projects...just hate paying to rent and limited use. I like the tractors because i can get a new one with warranty for less than a decent used skid steer.
