re: Under counter ice maker
Posted by OGE Pop on 1/2/25 at 3:29 pm to The Johnny Lawrence
Apologies being late posting. I have had a couple of them with the last one being a Manitowok. I bought a little drink refrigerator to fill the spot now. Done with under the counter ice makers. FTS.
My wife likes the Sonic ice for drinks so we ended up buying one of those small ones that fit on the counter top. No Maintenance other than adding distilled water and seems to work pretty good. No drain line, supply line, water filters, cleaning coils, etc.

re: DIY home project suggestions?

Make sure the deck has an outdoor type sofa or a hammock!
Most of the people I know who put the clad wooden windows on their house (I think it was Anderson vinyl clad at the time) had to change them in about 15 years due to the wood rotting.
I used vinyl windows when I built - they seem to be holding up fine after almost 20 years.
All in south Louisiana - may be different in dryer locations.
Bout all I have to offer

I agree with most on this post that it is simple DIY task not requiring special tools unless you have to sweat copper. I run into a couple of changeouts that turned into a disaster. (one had some sort of grey plastic pipe they used for a little while in the late 80's)

Dandaman with the correct answer - only way to stop humid gulf air from condensing on cold concrete or any cold surface
The fan solution will help recovery time on the problem, but not prevent the condensation from occurring

re: Turkey on Big Green Egg
Posted by OGE Pop on 11/11/24 at 12:28 pm to Jason9782003
I do mine every year on the egg. Inject it - cook with indirect heat at 225-300, comes out perfect every time.
ETA - start with a decent quality turkey. Turkey is not as bad a chicken you find on the market, but if you start with s****y meat, don't care what you do, it not going to be good (learned for experience)
Also - I like to cook mine at a lower temperature than most. You can put more cooking into it but you can't take it out

Any idea where in Allen Parish is the planned installation of the plant?
re: Mini split question

I did something similar in my hunting camp. 2 BR 1 BA Large open area with kitchen. 3 ton mini split. Larger cassette in main area, one in each bedroom.
Nothing in bath. Washer dryer is in garage/storage area - nothing there (uninsulated and not conditioned)
Put adequate insulation
been working great for 5 years

Question On Advocare Game Tickets
Posted by OGE Pop on 5/24/18 at 12:40 pm
Does the price of the tickets tend to go down as the game time gets closer? Using Stub Hub
Thanks in advance

I put one on my barn/workshop. Humidity in South LA is a bit much to make these units worthwhile. unless you are going to drill a well and have some place to dump the hot water, do not waste your time and money. You are better off with a high efficiency air exchange unit (some call it high seer rating) Note that the seer rating on the Geo units do not include pump HP
My only salvation from the project is that I use swimming pool water to dissipate heat from the unit. Helps keep pool warm and shop cool

It is a Civic. Buy a compressor, change it out. Borrow a vac pump from auto zone and refill with refrigerant. It is really that simple. Make certain that you do not have any leaks)

Agreed - spend a lot of time in that area. Just have to get used to it. Country folks

3000 miles is back from the SD grades of motor oils. Modern Regular mineral oils are good to at least 7500 miles - Synthetics even longer. Wife had a BMW and oil change interval was close to 25K - Other than BMW Oil, Mobil 1 was the only substitute

re: Crawfish duel jet burner regulator ain’t cutting it
Posted by OGE Pop on 4/16/18 at 8:51 pm to Red Stick 55
Quick connect will reduce flow to burner unless you have high pressure gas (like a propane bottle) Go to a good hardware store or gas supply company and buy a good burner and regulator. Struggles will be over. That Chinese stuff is not going to last you very long
