That's a part of it. It is also, for those who fish impoundments, a way to find brush piles. And then you find the crappie in the brush ( I catch and release 98% of the crappie I catch).
At some point you will see wads of shad but underneath and around them you will also see what looks like a group of 20 football shapes underneath the shad or on the bottom. When in the right mood they will hammer your drop shotted plastic worms.

And the one thing that makes you know LS is not a panacea is when you don't see squat or don't see the fish grouped up and don't catch anything.

And then you pound the bank.

GeauxTigers0107, I completely agree with you. Why does it bother someone how I choose to spend my money and my time? Whichever side you are on is fine, but why get mad at a guy that has a different opinion. I try to stay out of other people’s decisions and choices whether it’s livescope, killing spikes, or anything other controversial thing. Why can’t you do you and let me do me? I just don’t get the hate because you have a different opinion than someone else.
